specs:
rem 700p .338 LM
leupold mark 4 rings and base
bushnell 6-24x50
badger brake

i'd look into better optics like said above the bushnell probably wont last long if money is tight look at sightron they make excellent optics for the price and if price isnt a object nightforce is the way to go

Maybe it is a 6500 Elite or a tactical.

But that is right , knock down the new guy for wanting to try.

All you can do is try and see what happens, I wish I had a 338 to play with.

Sweet first Precision rig!! Have you stretched the 338s legs yet? Do you reload? if so what bullet/powder combo does it like best? Or what have you tried?
Which reticle in the bushnell?
I ask all these questions cause I host shoots out to a mile, 3 hours north of you.

havent started reloading yet just got some hornady match ammo to start, the scope is actually going to go on my .308 im just waiting for parts for it.

theres a few places around here that id probably be able to shoot out to 1500 meters once i get everything set up and can start testing

Well the 338 definitely has performance written all over it. 1500 mtrs, thats a good test distance.
What weight is the hornady match? 250 300
Now I have to go look at that rifle.

Lol, great words of encouragement.

Anyways, nice rifle. What kind of distance are you going after?

Lets look at the OP again shall we. I bolded the text that has alluded some. I guess its better to lie and blow hot air up someone's a$$ than tell the truth and offer real advice. Patting him on the back is not advice.

Where in my post did I "knock down" the OP or his rig? He asked for "thoughts comments advice..."and that's what he got. Even if the optic is/was a 6500 or tactical, its still bushnell and it won't perform or last like the major players, especially on a 338.

the bushnell was just something i put on it to get the rifle to the range for a day to see what it was like to shoot being that its alot bigger than what im used to shooting, 4th shot the cheap bipod i threw on it split :p. soon to have a jae stock, nightforce optic and an atlas bipod tho then i can start doing some real shooting

And when your wife/GF asks " do these pants make my ass look big?" , what do you say??:p

for now your scope is fine. the 6500 will take .338 recoil.

I would be suprised if you dont upgrade one day... but for now. nice rig!
