Just got a 3X10 40mm Bushnell

I just got a Bushnell 3X10 40mm 3200 Bushnell. I got this one because I originaly wanted a 3X9 40. The 3X10 is shorter and lighter then the 3X9. I will mount this on a Rem 700 30-06. This morning I just realized that on the Bushnell web site, they say "short action". Will I have any problems?
 
I just realise that it will only fit on the gun if I use a rail system. It dose not clear the action so I can't use a Leupold base. I will certainly not use a weaver rail on this...
 
If you are using Weaver bases on a Rem 700 long action use a #40A base on the front. It will then give you the room to mount a short tube scope & still have enough room to adjust eye relief...

Here's a Rem 700 .30-06 with Weaver bases with the #40A front base with a B&L Elite 3000 3-9x40mm scope mounted...

Why won't you use a Weaver?
 
weaver bases are ok but their rings are crap

you sir, bought a 'short mag' scope for a long action 30-06

There are several types of Weaver brand rings. The most common is the old standard aluminum bottom, steel top that hooks on one side and screws into the other. These rings are very strong but are a pain to mount (scope rotates when you tighten the top screws) and most people don't find them very attractive. There are newer Grand Slam rings that are all steel and have a more traditional design and are almost the same price...we will be switching to these for most of our Weaver needs.
