Just got a great deal - now what?

I just got a killer deal on a mid '80's Belgian made (Belgian assembled) Hi Power, it's a Mark 1 with wood grips and those tiny little sights that no one over 20 can see. Other than that it's literally perfect - zero wear. So here's the question, should I get the sights replaced, trigger job and ramp polished before I sell or trade it, or should I just trade or sell it as is. Opinions welcome.

PS, any work would be done by a pro, no hack work on this piece.

If you're gonna keep it , set it up the way you want. There was a thread recently about modding Hi Powers with a few good gunsmith recommendations in it.

If you're gonna flip it, don't touch it. The next buyer will either want it stock or done '' their '' way.

I felt the same way about the sights on my BHP...until I finally shot it (after years in storage). I also removed the mag disco. Mines a '68 "T" series and its a pleasure to shoot! The slide feels like its on ball bearings.
Try it first before you do something foolish like selling it. I still enjoy my modern polymer HG's but an older BHP has soul....

This isn't a 'T' but the finish is still absolutely gorgeous - the problem with me is that I shoot guns a lot, really a lot. Also, I tend to beat the crap out of them, it would be sad to see this work of art after I'd spent a year molesting it.

Meh, guns are supposed to be shot and you know this better than most anyone on this board. :D I truely regret selling my Hi Power.

Send it out and get a pair of Ameriglo Hackathorns put on it; replace the recoil spring, slap some skateboard tape on the front and rear straps and shoot the ever living crap out it (and replace the recoil spring every 4k).

I always wanted to see how the Hi Power, with a good pair of sights, would perform against modern pistols ...

P.S. Don't forge t to invite me to the range to try it out. ;)
