Just got my first M14s!

Those wood stocks look great. Accuracy should be 3" to 4" with Norinco surplus. Many of us on this board are chasing small groups with various success. I've heard of some folks getting consistent 1" groups but have never seen it in person. My rifle just shot its first sub-MOA group with reloads but I think this was a fluke.

I found that barrel temperature has a huge impact. Mine shoots best hot and dirty.

Enjoy your rifle, tweaking is half the fun.

Mine was getting 1" groupings @ 100 yards with the 20rnd Norinco Green Box from marstar. The bulk norinco stuff is a different story...

Welcome to the club, nice stock on that rifle!

100 yards, 5 shots, handloads with PRVI bulk 150 grain FMJ. 9X scope.

I feel for ya SoBored. That is awesome shooting :)
That friggin 1 in 5 flyer never fails to turn up eh. Trying to find a fix for that, got a couple of ideas I want to try out.
Mine just loves 150 FMJ sat on 40.5 H4895. results are identical to yours

The real b1tch of it was, the right hole was shot #5. I think the best way to approach these things when really going for accuracy is 5 groups, round robin them. First and last shots from magazine are always in the same groupings. These Battle Queens can be real drama Queens.

Try that 150gr FMJ over 42.5gr IMR4895. Just saying...

The 40.5gr is likely underpowered. In my honest opinion.

Yup, I gotta push on up and find another node. But if the accuracy doesn't show up before 44.5, it's back to 40.5 :(

Well if we're showing our best....

This is with 40.5 grains of IMR 4895 under a Hornady 150 grain SST, seated at 2.75" COAL. I'm working up a load to get out to 300 yds.

And I think I agree, hot and dirty works.

I take my hat off to you Sir..........that is friggin awesome :)
The shot to the right looks like the flyer and if it isn't how the heck did you overcome the 1 in 5 flyer ?
What spec is your gun. and which Gods do you pray to LOL
Excellence is achievable.

Lost - it's funny I'm still plagued by the flyers but this group was at the end of about 30 steadily paced rounds, so the barrel was hot and stayed that way.

I have to admit that this was an exceptional group for the day, some were 1-ish MOA but most were larger. I've been tightening my groups by adjusting for the first round flyer, and also taking some Norc ammo to warm up the barrel before shooting for groups.

Btw, it's an M305 in a Blackfeather, CASM, shimmed, vortex FH, Zeiss 3x9.
