Hey guys,

Well, I got my GSG 110 rnd drum for my 10/22 marauder today from Rustywood trading Co. , and first off, let me say, i'm more than impressed with its build quality! Hell, it's German made, so i guess it's no real surprise! I was hoping it would be steel lips, and heck, its better than that, the whole upper part is steel!

And another thing, just poking around the forums, reading up on them, i was hoping it wouldnt be too difficult to load, I'd read multiple posts where guys couldnt even figure out how to load them, and others just having plain difficulties loading them. I even seen one or two where guys sent them back. With that said, HOW IN THE HELL can't a guy load these things? LOL.... The directions are clear, and I didnt even need them! Just load them! LOL.... Heck, their easier on the thumb to load than a plain old 25 round Butler Creek!

Anyways, it functions 100% in my Marauder.... Well, I had a couple FTF on the first 10 rounds then the rest went 100%, I'd imagine it will break in quick, and work great after that....

I like it so much, I want another one!!!! (I just hope the Americans leave enough rimfire to load two of these in the next months, crazy artificial shortage hoarding wing nutz) ;-)

JUst thought I'd share my opinionated review!

Thanks RustyWoodTrading Co.!:)

Ok, I'm confused.
It functions 100% or not?
A couple ftf on the first 10, then 100%??
At 100%, but you imagine it'll break in quick, then work great???

I'll check back in 2000 rounds, glad you're enjoying it though.

:p

I had to take a file to it and grind down all four sides where it fits in the magwel on my Ruger SR 22 to get the thing to acyally fit. Even now I have to jam it in and can barely get it out. It is like it was made for a different gun.

I consider a couple FTF in the first 10 rounds, then it emptying the entire drum without a hitch 100%! ;-) Hell, It isnt even broken in yet! Ive seen new steel lip 25 rnd butler creek mags do the same! untill they have run through a couple times, they can be a bit stiff!

I didn't bother reloading it at the place I tested it, as it was windy, and wanting to rain. its a couple miles from home. I'll take it out this morning, along with my SL8 which I need to sight in again as I changed scope mounts.

I'll let you guys know how it goes today. Maybe Ill go through more than one round with it.

-And to the guy with the SR22, yeah, I understand it doesnt fit as advertised with the SR22, Its tight in the magwell on my Marauder, but it fits without any modification, I think its good that its a tight fit, as it's pretty heavy loaded up, and a guy wouldn't want it to be wobbling around in there! IMO they did a great job designing this thing, as with all the different configurations guys are running their 10/22's, it's difficult to make everyone happy. But, if they state it fits in the SR22, then it should....

ill update this thread after i get home later today.

I've found with my GSG that if I do load it incorrectly (ie advancing the spring too far) then it does become a bit of a PITA to unload. Thankfully, the mag comes apart making it easy for the mis-fed rounds to come out.

I did have to file mine to fit in the SR-22, but its nice and snug now. And I would not say its wobbly in the Nomad as a result either.

I hated my first one so much when I got it in the fall that I immediately bought a second one :p

Once you get the swing of loading them, they're easy. Also I've run through both a dozen times each at this point (hard to maintain a good ammo stockpile around this place), and I think I've had maybe 4 or 5 FTF total, and that was only on one of them in the first dump or two when I was running it hot and fast just for giggles.

Both fit like a glove in my basic birch stock carbine.

ive always wanted to pick one of these up but have never really heard anything good about them.
but over the last couple months im seeing more and more people saying they are having good luck with them, so im guessing that design has finally caught up and we are getting some good ones on the market?
i guess ill have to start looking around for who is stocked and selling these.

If I see one and the price isn't a blatant rip I'm buying it just because!

Imagine a day in a field with endless gophers...

One thing I wish they'd come out with is a loader with a hand crank that loads two or maybe more rounds per turn of the handle.

I bought one of these a while ago, I found loading it to be pretty easy. Time consuming if anything, but I think mine took 113 rds.

It's a bit of a tight fit in my 10/22, but it goes in and out. Haven't fired through the whole mag yet, only about 20 shots but it was working just fine.

Aside from it making the gun seem large and clumsy, I think they are kinda neat.

Next thing I need is a brass catcher though, I don't leave .22 casings laying around and I don't want to pick them all up by hand.

I like mine but it's fussy with my dlask barrel but more than happy in my factory barrel guns with the right ammo. As far as picking up the brass my kids make it a game when we are done to who can get the most in a bag. I sure love my kids

Please stop!! I'm trying to budget here......no more....please. stop with the awesomeness...need to buy now

Buy two. I actually use it for varminting. Take two drums with me and that's an entire day wandering around the field without reloading a mag.

I picked one up at the Kamloops gun show....110 with tax from RustyWood. Hit the range on monday 2 fail to feed on first mag .....one on second mag and absolutely none on third run........I am hooked......I would blame 50% of the failure on my extremely filthy rifle
