I just recieved my HK P8 that I ordered from Lever Arms It is very simular to the HK USP with the major difference being that the P8 is the German Issue Service Pistol it features a unquie safety decocker instead of pushing the safety up to engage and down to fire and push past fire position to get to decock the pistol it features a more thought out method up to fire ,down for safety and all the way down is to decock the pistol

I always wondered with the P8: why did the German Army go the opposite of everybody else? It's way faster to thumb down the safety than go up with it.

I was told that the P8 was to have the same arrangment as there previous service pistol. I think that it was the Walther P99 was the previous pistol .I like the Saftey arrangment simular to the S&W auto pistols, I believe it is a personal prefernce for the safety position :)
The HK P8's are not sold in the US however the P8 issued mag is an Opague colour mag that has acapacity of 15 rnds is sold there,I am only aware that Canada is only country that sell's the HK P8 to us Civies:cool: Lever Arms still has I believe 1 left A friend of mine got his from TSE but from there catalog it appears that they carrying the US line up from HK

standard usp, no o ring...

some versons have the o ring barrel, but the regular usp and the P8 doesn't...

this is actually a decent set up for the USP is you use it in PRoduction division. The hammer is down for a DA first shot. The lever is all the way up for fire, which is good as you can get a slightly higher grip on the pistol, and not worry about accidently putting the safety on. I changed my USP to a V3 no safety as I my grip was high enough that I engaged the safety in a stage the other month-twice.

The German government specified it for the service pistol to have that arrangement and therefore the USP had to be rearranged for the Bundeswehr.

The barrel is also specified with lands and groves rather than polygonal profile.
