Just got my SKS in

What makes you think the price will go down? There's a finite supply of SKS rifles, it's logical to think the prices will only go up.

The price will go down (for now) because there is ALOT more on the way.
The price will go up over time but in the short term it will go down. As I said in another thread anyone buying an sks as an investment has a long wait.

I have bought a SKS off Westrifle and yes it was abit more then other places but I got a nice 1950s sqaure block :)

I think if you can seperate the grades of gun and years you will have better luck selling. Also if you can tell the Russian to stop welding the bottom on the mag and weld the follower instead PLEASE! lol

I had a Grade A buy with westrifle as I do with many of our dealers :)

Thank you for great words. I am working with Russians. The thing is this is the only way they know how to do it. Nobody else told them how to do it other way. If someone can send me pictures of drawing of how it is done on other SKS I will push it through to my supplier. Believe me when I say I tried, this is how they were told to do by "someone" to save the cost. Would you pay extra for different pinning process or you will fight me on the cost again. This kind of change cost money.

I would pay extra for non welded mags with 100% matching soild wood stocks or any 1949 gun.
Laminate stocks look great but are not as collectable "since almost all are refurbs"

SKS45 are a dime a dozen now BUT if you can get collector grade guns pinned properly, you would corner the collectors market ;)

Here is the pic off Curttons AWESOME SKS sticky, The pen is pointing to the good way the block the mag.
Its probaly easyier to do too :) and does not spoil the rifles good looks.

Also push to your supplier you want these types of guns

-SKSs with soild wood stock 100% matching "not force match no ######Xs"
-SKS45 with spike bayo "any cond"
-SKS 1949 "any cond"
-SKS with square gas blocks
-SKSs with a star on the cover but "no date"
-Pre 1955 marked SKS slings would be cool too:)

You can save money by not including extra junk "sling since most are 1980s made AK74 slings"

Hope this helps

T I was able to figure out what most of the parts in the cleaning kit do though as this is my first semi-automatic rifle, I am quite new to it. I could only identify the cleaning brush but the other two tools are unfamiliar to me.

Great looking rifle.

I don't think any one answered your question about the accessories yet.

The thin piece of tapered steel is a punch/drift for removing the trigger assembly, and also works great with a hammer for knocking out the pin in the bolt that holds the firing pin it.

The other piece is a jag the threads onto the cleaning rod for using cleaning patches.

Also the lid of the cleaning kit is a muzzle guard. Use it when your using the cleaning rod so that you don't damaged the rifling near the muzzle.

Happy shooting!

i'll be interested in one or two 1949 and i will build two shrine , one for you and one for your dad, lol.

I know I can get 1949 I will have a few of those, spike bayonet is very limited quantity made I will have to go through a lot of trouble to find it. I will try my best I promise.

Ahh, thank you for clarifying this. I figured the jagged piece would thread onto the cleaning rod but it didn't when I first tried, probably too much grease in it still. The other pieces work just fine.

I was always told to avoid cleaning from the muzzle end on any rifle to avoid damaging the crown yet I read that for the SKS it was standard to clean from the muzzle end. Can I still clean from the breach end or should I only clean from the muzzle end on the SKS ?

I don't think you can't really clean it from the breach.
I have apparently misplaced my sks so I can't say for sure.

Sure you can and should clean it from the breech;
Just remove the bolt cover, the bolt carrier and the bolt and you are there...
takes two seconds...

If you want to use only the original cleaning kit, you must clean from the muzzle. The little bar in the cleaning kit can be use to lock the cleaning kit tube to the cleaning rod to make an handle.
