Just how accurate are the NP-29s?

I have a CZ-85 Combat on the way and I keep seeing how the NP-29 is so great. Is an average stock NP-29 more accurate than an average stock CZ-85 combat?

I have the Norinco 1911A1 in .45 ACP and it is great, though they often need a lot of work (new sights, smoothing, etc...) to become pleasant to shoot. Is it worthwhile to purchase an NP-29 as an accuracy pistol to supplement a CZ-85, or do you think the CZ can get by?

What have been people's experiences with stock NP-29 groups?

Good groups with mine!

Bear in mind I'm just an average joe - no great shot.

First time I took mine to the range I put 18 rounds (2 mags) into a roughly 2" group, free standing with a two handed grip at 7 yards. Group was about 3" high and 2" to the left. Gun was as delivered with the factory (smallish) sights and all.

Seems pretty good to me for an out of the box pistol.

I have a Browning Hi-Power, and the NP-29 shoots every bit as tight a group as the HP. The Norc was a little more than half the price.

Finish is a little rough, but mine functions flawlessly and the trigger isn't half bad, matter of fact, it's probably got a better trigger than my stock BHP.

Buy with confidence, knowing you may have to adjust your sights & you won't be disappointed! ;)

Unless there were comparison testing of a good sized batch of CZs and NP29s, there is no way to answer your question. My NP29 is usably accurate. It is not as accurate as my Smith 17 or 28. I'm sure that the CZ will be a fine pistol, and wouldn't worry about whether an NP29 would be more or less accurate. When your CZ arrives, test it, and let us know how well it shoots.

Well,

I used to have both and I must say that I am always surprised by the accuracy of CZ guns. In my hands, my CZ 85 combat outperformed my Norinco 29.

In the end though, I have kept the Norc as a project gun and sold the CZ which never got my blood boiling ! It's all about flavor folks.

My NP29 shoots better than I can hold it. Howzat for accuracy? If I shoot in between hearbeats and sandbag the pistol at 25m, the NP29 has no trouble keeping it inside a 5" group (black bull), the rest of the flyers are all MINE.

Don't get ONE, get TWO of them....

mine was nothing special when i first got it, kinda shot all over the place. Put a fitted match bushing on and it made a huge difference. shoots right up there with my SIG now....

Norc NP-29

I've had lots of 9mm's over the years. The NP-29 I have will shoot with the best of them. I currently have a BHP MkIII, Star B, Star BM, Colt Combat Commander and the NP-29. The NP-29 is a keeper for sure!

I was happy with the NP-29. Made the grave error of selling it. I'm going to buy another one this summer/whenever the next boatload gets here.

I missed out on the last boat load... but was lucky & managed to pic up mine with some cool mods off the EE here...
