Just joined Club H&H!!!

And rightly so! Don't you know the 375 ruger is the new king? it does everything the H&H can do but in a standard action with absolutely no character or panache....:D;)

I finally got around to fitting the stock on my 375 so that it fits me properly. Put another pile of lead down the barrel the other day, loads of fun :D

It is no Ruger, but I think it should be OK for gophers, rabbits and such ;) :D

What's nice with both the 300 H&H and 375 H&H is the long tapered case. It feeds through the rifle like hot knife through butter. And the long neck holds and stabilizes the bullet just fine. Both cartridges are very efficient with powder as well.

The short, fat, steep shouldered new ones fall behind with the three things I mentioned but can be chambered in a shorter action. That way the rifle makers can utilize lower cost existing rifle actions and they can make more money. Advertizements and hype are used to bragg up the new ones and refer to the old ones as out of date dinosaurs that have had their day.

But the H&H magnums will still be here, gett'in the job for many, many years to come. Most likely long after the shine has wore off the rest.

Oh m'God .....Rod, do you know what you've just started  Gatehouse is on HIS way dude and you are about to get tuned up

OK, wait....maybe not, he's busy looking for "king" brass. :p

How did ya manage that?

Browning manufactured them in the '60s on an FN Mauser action, bought mine new in '63, they also made a 300 H&H on the same action along with a host of other calibers the rest being shorter standard length such as 30-06 270 etc. I posted a pic of it yesterday.

Are not the FN actions that Browning used all the same standard length with the H&H ones modified with a longer mag box and with the feed rails and ramp opened up?

My "Old Faithfull"...:D

Nice rig Kevan. Realizing that you've owned it since '63, I still wonder why the high scope mounts, it that to for the scope to optically clear the sights. On mine, when I turn the scope down below 1.5x, I can see the front sight, but it isn't a problem. Just wondering, not criticizing. :)
