Hi all - I'm a Brit and still living in the UK right now, but plans to come live in AB in a few years, so very glad to have found this site.

I shoot a variety of stuff through my club here, but apart from BP pistol, which I can do here and love, I'm looking forward to getting stuck into some centrefire pistol shooting when we emigrate.
 
Thanks Cass - We're thinking of somewhere around the "middle" of AB: Red Deer/Sundre. Dunno really, as it depends on my wife's job. Mine is a lot more portable though (I'm a translator).

The picture - yes, isn't BP great? This was a video screen grab from the moment of ignition.
 
Welcome from Calgary, Jon ! I have qiute a few friends ( and co-worker or two ) that have moved from the motherland out here to the colonies, you will fit right in !

Ah I saw your other post, Central Alberta, good choice (Alberta) :)

Should be able to find good jobs in this economy, Housing prices have been crazy but no much different then what you would pay in England.

Red Deer is an nice little city
 
I'm in the kind of job that can be done from any-old where, so that's fixed. My wife will probably be okay too.

We'd like to get some acreage eventually, so that I can plink at least and my wife can keep horses. So I suppose we'll be looking at buying a small ranch or something. All pie-in-the-sky at the moment, but we'll see.

Oh no sir ;). Ontario's where my dear old aunt lives. Coming to see here next year. Last time the family came was in 1966 when I was but a toddler.

Funnily enough, I've been doing digital editing of my Dad's old cine film from that trip. It'll be so nice to see the city again, see how it's changed etc. Then we'll head across to AB for a look.
 
Welcome to Canada... when you get to Alberta, don't forget to bring lots of bug dope. The mosquitoes are unbelievable. Apart from that, it's a nice place... :)

Why'd they hate Ontarians then? Is it because anti-gun people are concentrated there?
 
Welcome aboard Jon......people from Ont. are largely frowned upon on this site because they largely vote for the Liberal Party....this is the Party that has done all it could to ban guns and harass law abiding citizens. Your idea of moving to Alberta is a good one, as folks there seem to value their freedom a little more...one more question...do you translate from English to Canadian, eh?
 
Welcome aboard! Alberta is definitely the right decision.I was born and raised in Toronto, but now work out in Alberta.It really is the land of the free out there.People there have traditional values, without worrying as much about political correctness!!!
