Just lost 2 pets to coyotees

I'm sure the hunting regs disagree with you. Killing a non domestic animal is almost certainly considered "hunting".
Not in Ontario. The Ontario Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act agrees with him providing certain conditions are met.

Thanks for the condolences guys, you're right, it is war. Not because of the pets but because they've been howling at the end of the driveway twice a night to get the dogs to chase after them.

Hire a trapper legal and the easiest way.

The most efficient way for sure. In fur season you might be able to find someone to do it for free or at least a reduced rate or even barter. Once got 200lbs of wheel weights for removing a big boar coon and even a pretty great price of $35 at auction :D

This situation is a bit humerus, seen from Alberta. :) 5 pages of posts on a couple of small pests. Here, they'd be dead long ago, no muss, no fuss, no bother.

Grizz

Happy ending to my story anyhow.

This guy was a chicken terrorist. Now a fair point could be made that they are not pets; of course you would have to explain this to my wife, who names half of the flock. This bad young fella came in and got 'Claire' and about 6-8 others. Heck, tore them up and wasted 3/4's of the meat. Left it laying scattered about the barnyard.
I'm away working the 'Patch so it's beyond my control. My father ( an experienced trapper ) came out and put this snare down. It bore fruit this morning.
My wife woke up my 14 year old daughter, who sent this fella to his maker with 3 rd's of 12 gauge '00' out of a Brown A-5. A bit of overkill, but it was her 1st 'Coupe de Grace'...surgical precision was not req'd, lol.
Good luck with your problem BTW

What is it with the influx of albertans boasting how they would deal with this issue?.... it doesnt matter what province you live in, there are regs that require following.... op has laws and neighbors to consider....

I am sure you dont pop off rounds in downtown calgary at will every time you see a pest.... here same as there protocol must be followed...

Our Pyr won't cross the electric fence strung mid yard. He got zapped and will wait to go through the gate...quite politely I might add.
And thanks to the Ont fellow who contacted me to offer his advice and expertise on handling racoons, we don't get that many so they are an odd occurrence. Thanks Deerdr
Sometimes CGN'rs can be pretty helpful and friendly; just have to ignore the Nimrods I suppose

Is it possible to get a pest control license? City halls issues them and allows discharge of firearms within city limit. But the catch is you have to use a single shot .410 and they want you to report to the PD so they don't get a firearms call. I'm also in the free west. I don't know how it works in Ontario.

Against the law to discharge a firearm within 100 metres of an occupied residence in BC.

look up on google... they are sheperd that are breed to hunt wolf and bear...... it's likely bigger.

Male must weight at least 54 kilos and be 78.5 cm at the sholder. However having a new dog to get rid of 2 coyotees is not the probable solution. However if you lost pet and would like to replace it... it could be a viable option.
