Is it just me- or is cosmoline a pain in the butt?
Maybe I'm lazy, but its the fact that I'd have to purge an SKS or Mosin from the cosmo that stops me from buying one.

Have dealers ever considered selling 'clean' guns? If they did, I'd buy one, and they'd surely see stock flying off shelves. Not only that- they could charge more for a cleaned gun. Thoughts?

I bought my SKS from weimajack and it had very little cosmo left on it. It took maybe an hour of relaxed disassembly and cleaning to have it completely cosmo free.

I don't get it...you only have to clean the shooter....all the rest get put in the safe covered in cosmo, cause you want to preserve them.

easy peasy

I loved cleaning the cosmo out of my Mosin, but when I got an SKS for my brother as a gift I HATED cleaning it out... But we wanted it ready to fire when we gave it to him, at the range! :D

I didnt like it at first but once i bought a large shallow plastic tub that the rifle could fit in fully submerged (not with the stock on) it made it alot easier. I also bought a bunch of little brushes and a mask so the mineral spirits didnt give me a headache. When im done i dump it back into the jug for next time.

My first gun ever was a Yugo M48 which was literally caked with the stuff.

I tore it down to nuts and bolts and cleaned her in my basement. It's one of my favorite memories of my hobby thus far.

It's actually a great experience lol For me anyhow.

It's a right of passage for a fan of Milsurp firearms, especially old Soviet hardware.

You can always buy one on the EE already cleaned but you would be cheating yourself of a great experience Comrade! ;)
