well today is not my day. last week I got my hammers in for my stevens 311-H (the right side hammer broke last summer), today me and my brother went to the range to test my gun. it worked awsome, not a single problem with the hammers (thanks again REM3200), but halfway through the day after only about 20 shots of mild home loaded buckshot and birdshot, the forend assembly piece broke. now i have to trackdown either a complete forend or just the metal frame piece. and on top of that to end the bad day, my brother pulled over to the side of the road at the range entrace gate and the truck sank right down the the chassis:mad: it took us almost 2 hours to get out of the mud and my brother even has big mudding tires and the truck is lifted about 2 feet of the ground.

Tough break. Could the piece be welded and the refinished? I'm not an expert at welding but it looks possible to repair. Just my .02.

Sorry for your mishaps.
Maybe being stuck for a couple of hours kept you from
getting yerself into more dudu?
I would of looked up and said thanks.
Just a thought?

unfortantly it is made from cast aluminum but i could get it brazed/welded just who knows how long that would hold. i did take a look at it more and thankfully the end peice that broke off only has one threaded hole wich hold the wood on, so it still is shootable just it isnt too pretty. that is a big relief.

I'd try some JB Weld or Permatex Cold Weld on that before/while sourcing a new one. After its hardened, you can file and sand it.
