I'm a little nervous about having an aluminum receiver, do they wear faster than steel or is it all good as long as its well lubed?

Also, I read somewhere of a ar magazine conversion, I would like a spare magazine and like the sound of a pinned 5/10round, anybody hear of them in the works?
 
My 2007 BLR Lightweight in .270 WSM, with the aluminum receiver, is bullet proof. You could never wear the receiver/action out with normal use. It's not a target rifle for sure, so the number of rounds a BLR is likely to see is moderate at worst. Please report back once you have it in hand and have it set to go. Mine performs exceptionally well with a 1.25-4x20 illuminated reticle Bushnell. The scope base holes are tapped in steel inserts in the receiver. A better high power lever rifle has yet to be designed IMO. :)
 
Got a stainless 223 and a silver leupold vx1 3-9x40 to go in the stainless rifle, but can't get the mounting system figured out.

I don't like the quick release scope leupold makes for the blr, how do you guys mount a scope?
 
I used Leupold two piece STD rings and bases on mine. I like my .308 BLR so much I was thinking of getting one in .223 for coyotes. Is that what you'll use yours for?

Word of advice on a BLR .......

They come with a very low comb that puts your eye perfectly in line with the open sights on the bbl, but much too low for quick scope use. When considering a scope and mounts, I highly recommend against buying a scope with a large objective end (like 40 or 50mm) and look for the very lowest mounts you can find. This will help a lot towards proper and fast eye placement in relation to your scope. Extra low Weaver style rings and either a straight tube or 28mm scope would be what I would look for.

You are absolutely right, as my scope sits now it is to high. I plan on getting lower rings but still using the 40mm scope.

Yeah, me too! All my BLR's are ridden by Leupold scopes :D. Preferred hardware on everything is Leupold 2 pc bases (1 pc sometimes) and Leupold super low rings when possible and Leupold low's when required. Sometimes Burris rings are good, too. Redfield is another option. On some applications, Weaver bases get the call, but never them dam fug-ugly roll your scope Weaver rings!
