Just ordered a Ruger 10/22 AAA Fancy walnut stock (Update April 11/07. Finally Here)

Thank you.

No, I just ordered his varmint model. I know it comes with a bench style stock shape but I didn't ask for anything extra.

I am getting very excited.:D

Thanks, I am pretty happy with it. What happened is that I ordered it Oct 12/06. Claude experienced a problem with his finishes he applies to his stocks and that all had to be redone which postponed my stock start day awhile. Then he received a shipment of blanks that weren't up to par. Another delay.

So, when I ordered I upgraded to the Extra Fancy Walnut. Claude being a fair fellow, chose a really, really nice piece of wood to compensate me for my patience. So basically I am getting an Extra, Extra fancy piece of wood :D

As far as I can tell from the picture, the only thing left is for him to checker the pistol grip.

your stock picture in post #8

although somewhat plain it is beautiful. can you send the pic to me at wardlow@telusplanet.net so I can e-mail it to claude as a sample of what I want. It is exactly what I want. then he knows exactly. (cannot cut & paster so good)

also how much $$$$ for that type of stock $250 Usd finished? and how does he ship it up to canada, as a wood carving?

thnaks nice ideas. I have another Br stock 3 inch wide foreend but no finished and the rear of the stock is 1 1/5 wide off the duplicator and I thought it would be like a normal stock when I got it so I will sell it and buy the one like post #8

thanksyou have helped me find the stock I have been looking for for 2 years. I have a volquartson receiveor and inards, with a vol radially fluted barrel and a Kidd trigger and was holding off because of the stock. jeff

Well, I think it is close to being finished. Here are some pics I received this morning. The rifle in the pic is not mine but the stock is :D

That is a beautiful piece of wood but I have to agree with TimC, my tastes lean more towards a nice oil finish.
I can`t believe how many pics he has sent you and the great communication.
I recently noted in another thread that people will wait indefinately for work when there is good communication and it doesn`t get any better then this.
Added Claude to my fav`s, thanks.

Update:

Well, the stock was shipped on March. 13. It was then returned back to Claude on March 15 because no customs paperwork was filled with the shipment.

It is now almost 2 weeks since it was returned and he still hasn't re-shipped it yet.

The stellar communication has been going down hill. He said that he scheduled a fedex pick up last friday (via website) and they didn't come. I can't believe that he waited almost 2 weeks to resend it.

If this happened in my business, I would make sure that getting it out the next day would be my top priority expecially if I knew the client (me) has been waiting almost 6 months, twice as long as quoted. I am a very easy going person but I am starting to get very pissed off.

Sorry folks. Just venting.

After my above rant, I got ahold of Claude and he shipped it out via USPS Express on March 28. I feel bad for getting so frusturated as I know Claude has a lot on his plate in his personal life.

Well, its in the mail and that's the good thing. Now I am wondering, I gave him my shipping address but I can't remember if I put Alberta,Canada in the email or not? I hope I did, I don't want it to come back because I forgot to put what country I'm from:eek: Do you think that it would come through anyways. I mean he did fill out a customs form and I hope most people in the states know that Alberta is in Canada? Any re-assuring comments?:D :D :D Man I find pointless things to worry about  ;) :D

What kind of finish were you thinking?

Hi Wrong Way I went to your website but didn't see any pic's of stocks. Could you post some please. Beautifull work by the way.

No stocks on my site. I did for a while, but truth is: A: There is not enough demand for one-off stocks to justify the space on the site, and B: My site hasn't been updated in 18 months. I really need to find someone to do that for me....too busty making sawdust.

I get alot of refinish work for stocks, in fact I'm just finishing a browning lever for another member here. The construction and finish details are pretty much the same as any other piece of furniture.

I would like to see some of your work as well. In the near future, I may be in the market for another custom stock and I would love to give the business to a fellow CGN member.
