What model/year shotgun was this? I don't disbelieve you I just doubt the JW-2000 would break in that manor.

It was a Westley Richards waterfowl gun with exposed hammers that actually had a new walnut stock installed at that time....the guy figured he did not have anything to worry about and could safely cut loose at ducks with both bbls.

Folks (in my country of origin) try to get away with such stunts mimicking punt gun tactics while shooting stationary birds on river banks.

The thing is it is not always certain i.e. one could accurately verify by looking at the surface as to how the grain is laid out. I have seen quite a few split stocks as a result :).

You have me thinking about this now. What should I look for? The thing is I really do enjoy pulling both triggers but I dont want to get hurt or worse look foolish:D! I called the store where I bought my JW-2000 and the smith told me that he has never seen it on that particular gun but it could possibly happen. Thanks for the advice:wave:

A 12" sxs hammer gun for clay shooting... Good luck with that.

Ah no. I never said/implied that:slap:. Besides I don't even own the 12" I have the JW-2000 and I use it for shooting random ####. Never shot clays myself (been wanting to give it a try) but if/when I do it will be with my 870 and a proper choke tube.

direction88, you are a wise man for allowing yourself to learn, not just from your own experience, but from that of others as well. Splitting the stock at the wrist has long been a risk with hot loads, let alone doubling.

Even with a synthetic stock, you risk damaging the rib, the lockup, or stressing the hinge to the point where the gun is off face. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't give you a plugged nickel for a gun that's off face.

Foolishness can be easily overcome - most of us have been guilty of it at one time or another :) Firearms can also be easily replaced. However, injury inflicted upon self or another simply due to careless handling of a firearm may never be remedied or easily remedied. You will agree that it is a serious responsibility that all firearm owners need to adhere to at all times.

Hammer guns are unique and indeed fun to shoot but please pull those triggers one AFTER the other......you owe it to yourself and to others who may be around you :)

I could hit hand thrown clays at close range with my 12" grizzly and my 8.5" Dlask 12g.

I bet that this would be even better at it because of the fast follow up shot.

lol.

Of course we are talking about clays about 10 m away....

:)

A rock would work well from that distance. :)

If you throw them at me, I can hit them with a baseball bat or gnip gnop paddle. That is ping pong spelled backwards:D. You shottie guys really have some meaningful threads:dancingbanana:
