Well, as much as I've been trying to avoid it...(and the range toys stacked up to prove it:D )..I am leaving the realms of "Non-AR restricteds". Damn you guys, I didn't even like them much before I started reading this forum.

John (Wolverine) is sending me a brand spankin new 14.5" (M4) ArmaLite LEM15A4 ....Hows that choice to get my feet wet? Anything I should know? Thoughts in general?

good decision ..14.5 " barrels are getting harder to find , and it should hold its value very well .AR's look the best with a 14.5" too IMO

Is this the 14.5" barrel with the permanently attached muzzle break? If it is, I looked one over at Hunters and it was SWEET. Congrats, I'm sure you'll love it. VERY NICE.:D

I like the Stag, but I couldn't wait and got an LMT. 14.5" is the perfect carbine length IMO.

It always begins with one...then another ...then another then you wake up one morning and like two single coat hangers in a closet, you come back a couple of days later and boom, there are hundreds and they are al tangled together. I have 5 of the bloody things now, they are fun to shoot, very accurate and have gone from non restricted, to restricted. I used to hunt gophers with one of the ones I have!!!!

Congrats buddy! I too will be purchasing my first AR very soon. I like the looks of the 14 inchers a lot, but think I will go with a 16" Stag in the end.

You know, for engaging Zombies at longer ranges... LOL

Edit: What kind of optic are you going to put on it?

OK, lingo confusion alert!!!

Does the term co-witness mean that you would aim with the irons right through the optic? Or that you could use either/or with no interference?

For mine I'm leaning toward either the ACOG with the DocOptik or the Elcan Spectre. Haven't decided yet.

By 9mm, do you mean a 9mm AR? I thought about that too, but bulk 223 is cheap enough, and reloading it is even cheaper, so I'm not worried. I like a rifle to have rifle-like ballistics, and I already reload for my precision 223 anyway...

Rumour has it you're starting to reload, so loading big batches of ammo for a semi is great practice anyway.
