Well I need some insight into adding some adjustable sights and a new set of grips as I've heard the stock ones (of both) are mediocure at best. I'm thinking hogue mono's but that's only because that's really all I've got experience with on my Norinco 1911. I have no idea about the sights. using this for fun shooting and some idpa, and possibly for some bullseye if it's better than my 1911 for accuracy.

Let me know what you think.... Please no norinco sucks comments here, I've heard them all before, thanks!

Have a good day!

Grips:
Yes, the super thick factory grips must go.

Hogue grips are a little tight on Norc NZ-85B. I guess the Norc frame is slightly larger than original CZs'. It took me about 10 minutes to put the Hogue grips onto my NZ, but it worked and looked fine.

Sights:
This is not a DIY project (maybe some people may disagree). Take it to a gunsmith and choose the type of sights you want.

However, before you do that, give the factory sights a chance and shoot about 200 - 300 rounds as is first. Maybe you will find the factory sights acceptable if you are not using it in competition right away.

Trigger:
You will need a trigger job done, because original NZs have a very stiff single action trigger at the "break point". DIY it according to CZ Forum's tips, or ask a gunsmith to do it for you.

Dehorn.....
You may want to remove those super sharp edges on the gun. But doing that means you will have to re-finish the gun later. This is the type of headache you get when you buy a Norc......

Change out the springs and the hogue grips just need to stretch a little, clean the gun well, lube her up and shot the snot out of it!!

Ya I'm pretty used to the finish issues with the norinco's. I'm still planning on coating my 1911 at some point. I'll give the stock sights a whirl first and see what I think, but I have a feeling I'll be swapping them out at some point.

Colin: do you know of a good source for springs for this? I generally try to purchase everything I can in Canada (I hate the border hassle).

Norcs don't suck..they're a good gun for the money.

I bought one, put Hogue grips (fantastic feel and fit)and just installed a PSI adjustable rear sight on it today. Being a machinist by trade helps doing small jobs like this. The original sights were shooting about 2" left with my reloads (180Gr.JFP cast)at 20yds, but were right on with the 180Gr. JFP from Frontier.

I like the flexibility of an adjustable sight since you can "tune your POI" to match your reloads particulars.

Ok got word that I should be getting my new NZ in a few days, now what do I do for mags. Only place I've found them so far is armco and I'd just like to shop around a bit. Any places you guys would recommend?

I just bought an NZ-85 and hopefully pick it up next week...I want to upgrade the grips, and I can't find any online...also, I want to buy a few extra mags. On marstar's site they have a mag for the 85 that costs 35$ in stock, but they also have one for the CZ-75 that is cheaper? They are interchangeable aren't they?

got my grips off ebay (as usuall) they ship here no problem, got mine within a week, and for around 20cdn shipped... awsome deal, now I need a fobus and mag holder, as well as two more mags if anyone knows a good deal, pass it on. have a good one
