Just picked up a HK USP, just have a few questions!

So I picked up my HK USP today, I paid 1124 out the door. I just have a couple questions.

How do you check the date it was made?

Where can I get a threaded barrel and night sights for it?

Also the gun came with no name mags? Are HK mags usually marked? My mags have no markings except pat pending and 9mm are these the mags the gun comes with?

Also the tips and block of the barrel shows some slight wear. Shop said it's because HK tests fires their guns, but can a few rounds do this?











 
Date will be a 2 letter code ahead of the serial number. What does yours read? Can't read it properly I think it says BB on it, if so it's a 2011 year of manufacture. Is it a V1? If so it's the same variant as mine.

You have stock usp 10 round mags, don't know why they are unmarked, they just are, but those are OEM HK mags.

Why do you need a threaded barrel? You have to order one in from one of the dealers. No one really stocks those seeing that HK barrels are stupid tough.

As for night sights I will be probably be ordering through calgary shooting center, I am either going for a xs big dot or a trijicon HD. Already tried the big dot on TDCs glock, now just waiting to see what the trij hd sights look like when aiming down sights.

As for those markings I wouldn't be worried about it. It will last just fine, dab a bit of oil or grease on the barrel where it touches the slide and you should be set. On a sidenote a 15m test target should be in there in the box.

As mentioned above, mags are fine, marks on barrel end and top of barrel above chamber are normal.

Store is correct, all German made H&K's, Sig's, etc. are test fired a number of times at the factory. As ztunelover said, a signed test target should be in box.

A threaded barrel will cost you a lot of $$$, almost as much as the difference between a USP Tac and the USP.

I'd suggest that if you want NS, begin by installing a set of Mepro or Trijicons.

Then try shooting a few hundred rounds out of the gun, you may find the factory trigger is not that bad.
I have a .45 USP and a 9mm USP Custom Sport, I really like a clean, crisp trigger, however I'm not sure I'd pay the $$$ to upgrade the standard USP trigger.
If the stock trigger doesn't 'grow on you', see if you can get your hands on a factory target trigger kit.

Two letter code corresponds to last two digits in the year. For example, B = 1 therefore a BB = 20"11"
A=0
B=1
C=2
NOTE: J is not used. K=9.

Your mags look fine. Most USP mags have "HK" on the floor plate. Some don't.

USP's are awesome guns. Good choice. Enjoy.
 
To the OP, I've heard reports that the USP 40cal mags will hold & fire 13rds of 9mm legally. I've never tried it (.40 mags work in my 9mm Sig 226), but do some research. Maybe another CGN'r can confirm.

I have tried and found this unreliable. Others have claimed many rounds fired with no issues. From my tests I concluded its fine to apply if all you care about is static range shooting and/or can tolerate the risk of malfunctions. If you cannot tolerate the risk of a malfunction (e.g. for competition or other) then I'd recommend sticking with proper caliber mags.
