Couldn't help myself and always wanted to try one of these. Have to say, I was quite surprised with it. All I had was some cheap PMC 5.56 and found that even at 400 meters I could ring the gong without troubles. Can't wait to see what a match grade .223 will do with a better scope.

I have always thought about these rifles also
The HK 93 is a great rifle, but, it has to stay home
So, this looks interesting

In my experience outside of boutique custom built autos this is the most accurate production 223/556 rifle, mine in particular loves the 69 grain swiss match and has also done really well with 75 grain projectiles. Congratulations on your new purchase, I hope you enjoy it for many years to come.

I shot one a few weeks ago and quite liked it. It had the mods for AR buffer tube/grip and AR mags. I've been contemplating one ever since... Buddy of mine shot a nice sub .75moa 5rd group with some 69gr handloads I had and I was making consitent hits on a 2/3 IPSC plate at 625yds with it. Nice rifles for sure.

I had one years ago that I converted to a G36K "clone" using a Stock Block Conversion for the folding G36C Buttstock. I purchased an entire G36K front end from HKParts.net and had a 3rd party imprrter bring it in for me. Fitted with an ACR Buttstock it was surprisingly confortable with outstanding ergonomics. Relatively nimble with the shorty front end, it balanced very well and was reasonably accurate at reasonable ranges out to 300m. The SL8 Trigger was a welcome departure from the much heavier G36 Trigger that I was accustomed to at the time. All things considered, it was an excellent package that I regretfully sold. Hopefully the current owner is enjoying my creation! Sorry, but no photo as it was approximately 7 or 8 years ago that I sold it.

I always wonder about these SL8's, in comparison to the Benelli MR-1. Does anyone have any personal experience comparing these two rifles head-to-head, rifles which seem quite similar in terms of price & solid name-brand reputation? I would be interested to hear it

Sl8 is the second most accurate factory semi auto 223 I have ever owned. The first being the swiss arms sniper version with the 26" barrel.

They both shot best with heavier bullets

Picked up this one recently from the EE. I’ve always liked the look of the ACR stock and G36 optic on the SL8, although the eye relief of the optic is very short.

the MR1 I had was superbly built although the take down for cleaning was a tad complex.
it was very accurate for the first 6-10 shots, then the pencil sized barrel would heat up enough
to allow the groups to open up quite a bit.
never had a malfunction of any kind.
I actually liked it but ultimately traded it off due to the rapidly heating barrel .

I really liked my SL8, but the size or shape of my hand made it impossible for me to find the thumbhole stock anything but uncomfortable. It's too bad, really, as it would have made a perfect DMR in my opinion.

Love my SL8. Noticeably lighter recoil (even my son who is recoil adverse - even though he's twice my size - enjoys shooting the SL8). Accurate out of the box. I have mine mated with a value Romeo 5 and it is honestly one of the more accurate rifles I own. I don't find the weight too bad and the thumbhole stock doesn't bother me, maybe because I have other guns with it so kind of used to it. Only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't take LAR15 mags and that the proprietary mags are so expensive. Would recommend anyone check their eyelet swivel stud on the left side to ensure it is tight...mine came off by itself during shooting and the front handguard came loose as a result (thankfully I found the eyelet swivel on the bench and it didn't fall on the grass in front - I believe it is secured with some nut on the right side. Tightened the dickens out of it and it's been fine since.
