Just picked up my M1 Garand

He showed it to me when I went to pick up my M305!!! It's a fine rifle you bought.... I was hopping you wouldn't go get it so I could buy it hehe

You're a lucky man!

After seeing it on the rack and picking it up, I just couldn't say no.

Nice rifle and thanks for the pics. What type of ammunition are you shooting through her? I ask because some feel factory loaded ammo is too hot for the Garand and velocity figures seem to bear this out. I hope to have one soon.

Regards,
Bruce

I was running 150 grain remingtons. I believe there are a little to hot for the gun, but I figured 20 rounds wouldn't hurt the old girl. i just couldn't wait to get my reloading rig set up.

Nice stuff lorne19 ... I have 2 garands ... one in wood ... other in synthetic ... tryna get some wood for the synthetic ... :D

Nice M1 you will like it especially the PING when you squeeze off the last round . I have two M1s, a Springfield in 7.62 X 51 and a Beretta in 30-06.
I fired the 7.62 for the first time a few months ago. I had too much grease in the system and minus 15 didn't help the situation. Cleaned it up and the next time it worked great. Its been on my rack for about 15 years. I want to put a nice walnut stock on it and keep the GI stock.

Who sells good walnut repo stocks in Canada???

I was pointed to a company in the US that manufactures and distributes them but I lost the site when my old computer died.

I particularly like Boyd's Walnut stocks. They have strong internet presence. PM me for more information. We can yak off line. My .308 Breda Garand has a new walnut stock and it's a true fondling rifle when watching "Band of Brothers." :p

Cheers,
Barney

Thanks for letting us know this. I myself feel the same way...a box or two of factory 150 grainers should be okay and I myself will want to shoot her as soon as I can. My purchase is a 1954 Springfield manufactured rifle. I'll take the chance on a little hot shooting. Great to hear from you and all Canadian Garand Nut Fans.
