Well I just purchased a very nice Polytech M305 in the camo synthetic stock. I really like the overall fit and finish of this rifle! There are few rougher casting sections, but overall, quite nice. My only complaint is the stock. Ugly would be a kind description! :)

Can anybody point me in the direction to where I can find nicer replacement stocks?

Update [stock replaced with USGI unit, and sights replaced with M1 Garand unit]:

Wood or synthetic? For wood, watch the Boyd's website for a sale under $100 so they can ship to Canada and then order one or look in the exchange forum for a GI stock. For Synth, there are MANY stocks on the market. Depends how much you want to spend.

$300

I am leaning towards a good synthetic. I want a plug and play stock that won't require too much fiddling around. Are there any locally available?

Boyds? Have a gander here: http://w w w.boydsgunstocks.com/M1A-STYLE-1-STOCK-WALNUT-FINISHED-p/200-929.htm

Just added spaces to avoid hotlinking to non-sponsor sites.

Have at 'er!! Boyd's is great to deal with!

Cheers,
Barney

I guess im the only one that likes the Norinco camo stock. I traded my chu wood stock for mine. I cant beleve the guy wanted to trade. One day it will be as retro as a Hyundai Pony.

we get shorty ( 18" barrel ) norcs here factory standard.. which come with the black or camo stock. i have seen one of the camo in person and they arent as bad as the picture.. they actually camo surprisingly well when you put them down in the grass or bush.

that being said.. i have a terrible habbit of repainting all my stocks, regardless of original colour

Well, thanks to fellow CGNer Solidol, I have an authentic USGI fibreglass stock (camo painted) coming my way! I will leave the factory camo stock in storage for the day it becomes "collectible":D

I disassembled the rifle today, and I can say that everything seems tight and well made. Mine's a 2009 model, with this printed on the receiver: BELL LIFESTYLE.CA BY-POLY INC.

Are you kidding? You seriously think they are'nt that bad in person. The first time I saw one, I could'nt do anything but laugh. Then I had a chance to trade one for a really good deal. I went back to a gunshop to see the camo one again in person, to try to talk myself into, but I just could'nt. I left shaking my head laughing again, thinking to myself that is so ugly its actually funny looking.

Kind of like when you see a Orange 4 Door 1972 Chevelle. The car had a real chance to be cool, then someone at the factory totally screwed it up. Kind of like the ugly chinese camo M14.

Get some Krylon Paint, and paint it desert kacky. It will look pretty decent.

Well my factory "camo" stock just found a new home in cottage country. I'm sure it can be painted and modified to look more "civilized" :)

Got the Polytech out to the 100 metre range today. After about 15 rounds, I finally found paper. I managed a 5 inch grouping on my last 5 shots. Not bad with the factory iron sights. The Prvi Partizan 145 grain FMJ's slightly out-performed the American Eagle 150 grain FMJ's. This sucker has some kick! :)
