Just purchased my first 44 mag wheel gun

How'd I miss this til now :) ; congrats to OP on the .44 - great way to end off a range visit with some extra boom and fireballs!

I've used the 4 die Lee set, no problems of any kind, have never needed to lube cases either. All my loading is single stage, and while I don't shoot .44 a lot, I like the hotter end of the spectrum, again for some ####es and giggles at the end of a range day, and the heavy 7.5" Ruger is surprisingly easy to shoot. Did replace the pretty factory wood grips with Pachmyer Decelerators though. That became essential after some of that Buffalo Bore, those are not quite so easy on the paws as my own reloads LOL.

I've found these Hornady XTP's to offer the best accuracy.

Thanks! Rounds count over 100 in no time, and loving it!
I am a 9mm IPSC shooter, when training, I like to shoot 6x 44 rounds before each string of 60-80x 9mm rounds lately. Each time I go back to my 9mm, I am gripping with gorilla strength and that front sight ain't moving a 1/4 inch lol.
I just browsed the internet for an hour looking for pachmayr decelerators, N frame round butt, to no luck.

Just purchased Pachmayr Pro diamond from brownells.
My factory SW plastic grips do not offer positive locking grip so to speak, each 2-3 rounds I need to regrip.
Purchased hogues on the EE, while offering a positive grip, the exposed back strap make the recoil impulse feel sharper and uncomfortable.
Fingers crossed that pachmayr will be the right ones.

Try a little less heavy of a crimp. Too much and I find there is too much energy leaking past the front gap between the cylinder and the barrel. I set my crimp with a factory round then went 1/16" turn more on the die, and set it there.

When browsing the reloading section, I see that some guys complain that bullet seating depth moves from shot to shot.
ie : shoot 5 rounds, take the 6th one out, and realise it has changed seating depth under recoil impact.
Myself, did the test twice, shoot 5 rounds, remove unfired 6th, did not set back OAL a single thou.

Cool, glad you're enjoying it. Velocity needs longer barrels and/or lighter bullets. The 240's are nothing to sneeze at but if you want to some "hammer of the gods" type rounds try heavy loads with 180 gr Hornaday's or Sierra's.

Maybe someday!
I got to find better grips before loading her up more.

I love my 29-2. You know that you now need to get a lever gun in 44mag as well. The addiction never rests, LOL

I actually taught of this lately.
The debate for a non restricted center fire pistol caliber gun, is between a lever 44 and the new FX9 auto 9mm.
As I don't want more than one pistol caliber NR gun in the safe.
