Hi All,

Just purchased this 1969 WW1 Colt Commemorative 1911 45 (Meuse Argonne). It is mint and never been fired with the original wood / glass case. The pistol is in great shape but the original case is a bit rough. Any thoughts on this? Does anyone have any idea what this thing is worth? Feedback welcome!

Thanks!

MilArm in Edmonton. I travel there every month for work and dropped in to check out the store. I saw the pistol, fell in love and offered $1,500 tax included (they were asking $2,000). They said OK to the deal. I had to wait until they got the registration sorted out, they called today and it is on its way! I took a very close look at it in the store and it was mint, never fired. It was purchased from an estate sale (so I am told).

Collectors items are worth whatever the collector values them at. If you are happy with the purchase then it is a great deal! You now own a nice little piece of history. Congratulations!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. There are 3 more commemorative pistols that make up the set. If I ever win the lottery.....(grin). I figured that you can easily pay what I paid for this pistol (and more) for a new modern day 1911 (like a Kimber etc), so I thought that given the mint shape the pistol was in, the price wasn't out of line, especially given that these are more difficult to find in Canada than in the states.
