A Stevens M 200 in 300 win mag.

Going to take it to the range in the nexty couple of days to see how she shoots.

The other 300 I have is a M1917, rechambered from 30.06. It had issues with the chamber and I am going to get it rebarreled to, I think 375 H&H. Or maybe 340 Weatherby. Or maybe a 416 of some kind ..................

Decisions, decisions .....................

Get yourself a Pachmayer Decellerator pad or your trip to the range won't be too fun. I have a similar Savage with an identical weight rifle and she kicks like a branded bull. Make sure your eye relief is adequate also. Good luck, you got a seriously accurate rifle there, and its a great platform for upgrades down the road.

Thanks, I will do that.

I haven't been able to get my Savage 300WM to shoot particularly well. Its not a tight grouper. Hope you have better luck with yours.

I've put just over 100 rounds through mine now and have found it to shoot 1 inch MOA consistently "with a cold or cool barrrel". Once the barrel heats up it opens up to about 4 inch. As it's a "hunter" and not a "target" rifle I'm really happy with it.

Stevens 200 in .300 Win Mag

Actually I do!!:D:D:D

Yours will probably be a great shooter. Our local shop has a new Stevens 200 in .300 Win Mag for sale all set up with a spanking new Barska scope in Weaver rings/bases.

Have handled it and I gotta admit that barrel seems pencil thin for that big ctg! I load and shoot .300 Win Mag, formerly in a Ruger 77 tangsafety and now in a Browning A-bolt composite stalker [got it for the 26" barrel], and 10 rounds off the bench in a session is about enough!

Anyway, good luck with your Stevens! Will be interesting to read a range report when you get around to it.

Great Load for .300 Win Mag

Try 70 grains of IMR 4350 behind a good quality 180 grain JHP. This load has shot superbly in every .300 Win Mag I've tried it in. [Ruger 77 tangsafety, Browning A-bolt composite stalker, Win 70 post 64, and a Browning BBR]..................... ;)

Got to the range today, only did a limited number of shots but was reasonably happy with the result!!

Wlii do a better test, with photos when I can now!

The first Stevens 200 I bought was a 300 Win Mag. It has shot 1 1/2" groups and better from the very first trip to the range, and still does. Have used nothing but Norma 204, magnum primers and various 180 gr bullets.

If anyone has one they would like to trade for another Stevens in 308 Win, let me know.

Ted
