why do companys who make springers advertise that their guns are 1000fps
when in reality (with a lead pellet) they are around 750 fps.

i have noticed this before, but it happened again yesterday.
i saw a new crossman model on line, looks sharp, nice stock, real nice scope, and advertised at 1000fps.

so i go to check out the reviews on pyrmid and there it is being chronied at 730 fps in 177.

i know there is a certain amount of marketing required, but what happened to customer satification.

o well, rant over!!!

Yup,that's the one thing everyone gets pissed about. The company uses the lightest pellet they can get there hands on to make their claims. With all this aside though,to get the maximum effect(accuracy)with a pellet you don't really want to go over 950fps.Pellets get a little unstable if they are pushed too fast.As you know,it doesn't matter how much power you have if you can't hit the target!

Just skip right past the advertising and read the reviews, chances are someone chronied the gun you're looking at.
