I Just received my SAGE M14 ALCS stock. Thanks ARMTAC. Has anyone that has installed one of these themselves got any tips? Can anyone recomend a good gunsmith in the lowemainland of BC that would be able to install this for me? I am undecided if i want to try this myself on not. Here is a picture of the stock along with my ARMS 18 mount and ARMS QD rings from Wolverine Supplies

here is what I learned:

use a barrel vise, or carefully use a normal vise to secure the barrel if possible. you need to remove the gas system which is straight forward. You need to remove the op rod guide, so remove the retaining pin and use a wooden block and either a rubber mallet or carefully use a hammer to remove the old op rod guide, and install the new op rod guide, and insert a new 18 by 3/4 pin. It took me some learnin, but in the end things worked out just fine.

Before you install it, do you have a scale to weigh the stock on its own? Inquiring minds would like to know :).

I just did an install of the Blackfeather stock. Similar in that you have to disassemble and remove the old op rod guide and install the new one. If the instructions are as good as M14.ca's are, you shouldn't have any issues. One tip I would give is to give yourself a full weekend day set aside. That way you won't be rushed and frustrated.

The stock came in at 5.2 pounds on my bathroom scale.

I brought one of these stocks home from the states a few years ago and I'll tell you. You're going to love it. It really turns a lot of heads at the gun range. When you go down range to check your targets, lock 'er up in the car. I caught one puke trying to steal it while I was going downrange and just lucky I remembered I forgot my stapler for the target I was putting up and I turned around and caught him. Rotten scab wasn't even a member.
