So I got this today and I was wondering where to get 7.62 x 54 mm ammo in Ontario or even better the GTA. As well are there clips for it and or does it even take clips. Impulse buys always lead me to the next impulse buy.

Any help would be great
Thanks, Just bought a Russian

Hi there, welcome to the Russian rifle craze! I personally went through this song and dance for ammo, and I can give you a hand. Al Simmon's gun shop in Hamilton sells the ammo you're looking for. Clips can be sourced from Tradex, Marstar, or Westrifle, all three are CGN sponsors.

As far as ammo goes, I recommend light ball. While some will say that heavy is A-OK, the rifle was designed for bullets weighing 147 grains, and it is happiest in that area. I have personally noticed issues with sticky bolts in heavy ball. Prvi Partizan 150 grain soft points are of excellent quality, but are a tad pricey. Meanwhile, if the extra cleaning doesn't bother you, surplus is always a great option. Enjoy the new rifle!

P.S. this thread belongs in either the milsurp or ammo forum, the red rifle board is for the SKS and newer models.
