Hi there, welcome to the Russian rifle craze! I personally went through this song and dance for ammo, and I can give you a hand. Al Simmon's gun shop in Hamilton sells the ammo you're looking for. Clips can be sourced from Tradex, Marstar, or Westrifle, all three are CGN sponsors.
As far as ammo goes, I recommend light ball. While some will say that heavy is A-OK, the rifle was designed for bullets weighing 147 grains, and it is happiest in that area. I have personally noticed issues with sticky bolts in heavy ball. Prvi Partizan 150 grain soft points are of excellent quality, but are a tad pricey. Meanwhile, if the extra cleaning doesn't bother you, surplus is always a great option. Enjoy the new rifle!
P.S. this thread belongs in either the milsurp or ammo forum, the red rifle board is for the SKS and newer models.
