Hey guys,

Just picked one of these rifles up and just read that they do not recommend using non brass ammo (alu or other). I have a ton of Blazer 9mm ammo i use for my two pistols and was hoping to use that in this as well (it's pretty cheap in bulk). Has anyone used this type of ammo? They say that due to the blowback operation that this is not recommended and to use only brass casings.
Any good, inexpensive brass ammo in 9mm?
Also, anyone know about sightmark sights? Local store said that for the money they are pretty good...I'm looking to get a hologram (eotech style) sigh for the JR. Just goint to use it for plinking etc.
Thanks
P.S> got it out of province and now have to get it "verified" before I can register it in the Republic of Quebec. What a pain in the butt.

You could try and find some Wolf 9mm, I use it in my JR 9mm and it functions almost perfectly, with the exception of the occasional stovepipe or messed up spent casing. I also reload my 9mm and I bought berrys plated round nose for use in this gun, they seem to work just fine.

In a blow back the action starts to open very quickly, so an aluminum case might tend to stick and the extractor would rip through the rim. No harm in trying your ammo. If a case stick in the chamber it would be easy to pop out with a cleaning rod.

I shoot handloads with 135 RN lead bullets in mine. Works perfectly. Also tried some of the Berry's plated HP bullets. Excellent groups.

What diameter do you size you lead bullets to? I tried some 125 gr. cast RN bullets (Lee mould) sized to .356" and have had some FTF problems. However, when I use Berry's plated 115 gr. RN bullets which are sized to .355" the JR runs like a Swiss watch so I suspect the gun has a tight chamber. It's not a big deal for me but I was curious if it's just my gun or a common problem with the JRs & oversized cast bullets.

*QUALITY* reloads are a non-issue but I know from experience that you would be wise to stay away from Aluminum cased ammo.
I had a case seperation in a very bad way where I had to remove the barrel and use a reamer. The first issue I encountered had the rim ripped off and was a lot easier to fix than the aforementioned incident (which is what finally prompted to opt out of the CCI Balzer stuff).

Bin there done that, the aluminum case is still under pressure and still expanding while being ejected. Not recommended at all. Extractor blown off.
This was before the notice came out.

Aha...ok thanks guys. Maybe I'll invest in some brass for this one then, huh?
I'm thinking about a hologram type sight on it; thoughts?

I have a Bushnell Holosight on mine. With a 1 MOA centre dot it's plenty accurate at 100 yards for distance work and the 65 MOA circle works really well for short range action shooting.

Yep, I'd try one too just to see what would happen. After it ejected I picked up the spent casing, and it was pretty much torn in half. Won't do that again!

I have asked this question before. I finally just tried it.I have been using only aluminum case for the last couple hundred rounds without issue. Of course, YMMV/ try at your own risk
