Just Right Carbines??

I still fail to see the appeal in such an a**-backwards disassembly for routine maintenance, but to each their own. It's kind of funny what people will put up with when it's classified as non-restricted...

What's so bad about taking one apart? You only need to pull the buffer tube and bolt handle off to get the bolt out. Pretty simple and quick. I can't understand why you would want to pay $2K+ for another carbine, when the JR will do what anyone needs to for a lot less dough...

I don't buy guns because the way they disassemble "appeals to me". How else does a straight blowback come apart? And what are you even going on about "what people will put up with when it's classified as non-restricted"? This is the best we can get here without shelling out $3000 for a NR "black rifle".

Oh, I don't know... maybe with just a few pins like almost every other single modern black rifle design out there? I'm not sure where you get $3k from. Tavors are down to $2,600; you can get an XCR for under $2,400; a Kriss Super-V is $2k; Benelli MR1 and CX4 Storm for around $1,500. I've left out the Mini-14 and Kel-Tec SU-16, but those are two other sub-$1k rifles as well.

Castle nut, buffer tube and bolt handle (maybe a retainer latch as well?) I wouldn't say it's simple or quick unless disassembly is tool-less. But as I said, to each their own - it's just not a very good design.

The heck do you care how fast it disassembles? your one of those guys who pretends to be at war with each of his guns? I bet you wear a chest pack at the range too.

I wear night vision at the range with the lights out. It's a deal I made to save hydro for a cheaper range membership.

Last week I was doing a drill I saw on Predator and one of the "wealthies" that pay hydro with their membership came in and hit the lights, my NV flared so bad that I $hit my pants. Good thing I was wearing a chest pack, I tied it around my waist, gathered up my GI Joe action figures that I needed for this particular drill and bid them all good day.

You just never know when you'll need a chest pack.......

You're right - I don't care - because I'd never own any firearm that requires you to completely disassemble the buffer tube assembly just to be able to remove the bolt or perform basic maintenance (like cleaning). If it wasn't for the fact that this is a) non-restricted and b) resembles an AR15, I seriously doubt there'd be any interest with all its 'redeeming' qualities...

As for the 'war' and 'chest pack' remark, I like Shooter's response the best. ;)

Ive never had much issue with cleaning mine. lock the bolt back, swab the bore a few times. few drops of slip2000 to the bolt/carrier and away we goooooo. sure, it doesnt come apart like my XCR does, but does it really matter? like REALLY? Mine had a few hickups at the start, which is over 2000rnds ago. Up untill somwhere around the 500rnd point i would pull it all apart and clean it till it was spotless. Then i decided to see how long she would run without taking it apart and doing a detailed clean. That was 1500 or so rounds ago with no issues. so what if it doesnt come apart in under 2 seconds...

Seems like any of those rifles mentioned have their issues. It's what you are willing to put up with I guess. At least I'm not buying tubes of blue loctite for it! :D:D:D

Just enjoy your guns, guys. Hope you are blasting up the ranges this summer with whatever pleases you. Oh, and after Hungry's clinic this week, looks like I will be buying a chest rig for CQB.

lol, I see what just happend there ruger man lol. Its actually a good idea to lock tite the JR carbeen. As with most machines that deal with lots of viberations...Like on the weekend the girlfriend was having a problem with her....wait, well nvm lol

Like rugerman said, get out and shoot'em. If everyone liked the same thing, life would be boring
