thanx Daniel

Forget about buying more chrony rods, get some 5/32 welding rod and bend them so you have a nice rectangular window to shoot through, the 5/32" or 4mm fits perfect in mine and have never had a problem since. Mind you I always turn my scope down to low power, then make sure I am centered over the photoeye/sensor with the target bullseye above the center (vertically) and you are good to go!
Glad to hear I'm not the only one pulling stunts like this.
LOL!
Hope this helps.

There are two kinds of Chrony owners...
Those who have shot their chrony and those you will shoot their choneys.

Rods; I use wooden dowel. The skinny stuff. Cheap and "if" you manage to hit them they just break away. Hitting the steel rods may cause the plastic housing they are inserted into to crack.

..And who wants a cracked chrony?

I shot mine two years ago with my 25/06. Hit a rod half way up and a bullet fragment went nicely right through the centre of the electronics - what luck. Scope on 12X made it hard to determine just where the bullet would pass over the chrony, so now I aim at least 6" above it (and am more careful).

I think we will need to have a thread of pictures from chrony hunting season,
and everyoens trophy kills haha.

I can see the threads now " What caliber is sufficent for chrony hunting?"

:D

So far the only one I've shot, I did with a paintball gun years ago, so I'm probably overdue.....

I blew mine right off the table 4 years ago :p :D

I put a target behind it now (the new one)...and use a patch as an aiming point...

Chrony has a trade in program specifically for shot up Chronies (I think it was $50 towards a new one)...leads me to believe we are not members of a very exclusive club

...of course that only ever happens when you have 5 or 6 buddies watching

I can see folks shooting the rods or the chrony unit. But how did you manage to shoot your wire? Is the wire not hanging off the side and run below the unit?

I never try it. Is the wire not just a phone extension wire?

I am not try to be funny but it is certainly interesting.

FYI folks. Shooting your Chrony is part of the right of passage. You are not a real shooter until you have managed it at least once.

I happen to hold the Canadian (dare I say world) record for Chrony Rod chucking. I hit mine (left rear rod) with a .38 S&W out of a Webley (Low PF - Break Top Division - Open Sights). Rod flew 50 yards 2 feet 8 inches down range and took 1 hour 15 minutes 14 seconds to find - Distance and Time Records as established by the World Body of Chrony Shooters Association - aka WBCSA. I always get my rifle centered over the screens on low power scope setting, then power up for a paper shot

so far, so good...;)
