just shot my chrony

There are two kinds of Chrony owners...
Those who have shot their chrony and those you will shoot their choneys.

I have used my chronys a great deal and have never shot one. Most people that shoot their chronographs are concentrating on a target downrange at the time.I set my scope to the lowest power and concentrate only on shooting between the wires with no other distractions such as a target downrange.I also do not let anyone else shoot through my chronographs as people unfamiliar with them present the highest risk to the chronograph.

one of my friends shot his first time out!shot off both front rods, one back one and on the last shot put the bullet right through it,all it did was break the front and back plates and cut off a wire inside, fixed the wire and was much more careful after that!

May as well add my self to the list...

I have only shot mine twice, once with my brother in laws 348 Weatherby MAG OMG, managed to nick one of the rods without severing it.

Second time was with my .308 in winter, never did find that rod ever again.

Got a replacement set from a guy on ebay!

I can't hit my chrony to save my soul  Mind you I set a target up, then my rifle, then my chrony. I have some tape on the rods about 6" up. I ignore the scope but just carefully align the chrony into its safe position (mounted on cheap tripod) and then shoot. :) One of my shootin buddy's has bagged two chronys mind you.....

Hi

Had the first generation Chrony with the carboard uprights and the two plastic sheets on top. I nicked the cardboard a few times, no big deal, a very small through hole to shoot through if you remember what they used to look like. Then one day I wanted to test my handloads and factory ammo in my Mauser Broomhandle. Well Broomhandles shoot high without the shoulder stock. I grazed the first skyscreen but the second screen disappeared in a big white flash and the cardboard upright went flying. Had some extra plastic and masking tape, fixed up the upright so I was able to use it for a while later.

Someone mentioned wads striking the unit, I have had gobs of alox from cast bullets hit the display.

This year I traded up for the model with the remote readout. Sure beats squinting at the readout out in front of you;) .
