I just thought I'd share a couple photos of my newest build. I bought it as a CZ 455 Lux but have made some modest changes. I think she's pretty. We will see how she shoots this weekend.

CZ 455 receiver Parkerized by Vulcan Gun
Military trainer stock with widened barrel channel
Yo-Dave trigger kit
CZ 457 16" threaded heavy barrel
CZ mount
Sightron S3 3.5-10x

Nothing too fancy but a bit different.

I bought the stock after attempting to bed the original stock. I wasn't happy with it and figured for $150 I could just start fresh with a mint stock and leave it alone.

After getting the new stock I thought , screw it, I'll have another try at bedding the original stock and of it works out ill sell the new one I just got since its mint...

I decided to also refinish the original stock... boy was it looking good. I used chemical stripper, and sanded it down to bare wood. I bought an assortment of fine grit sandpaper up to 1500, and spent hours sanding by hand until my chest muscles hurt the next day from the repetitive motion. I mixed 2 different stain colours and really liked what I got. All I had left was a boiled linseed oil finish and I was good to go.

Before the final finish I decided it was time to bed it. I made sure to use plenty of grease on the metal. I thought I was being overly cautious. Well...

Hopefully you can find some humor in my misfortune. I really didn't know what I was doing and I'm kind of embarrassed. At least I had the spare stock.

For fun I'm thinking about gluing it back together and bringing it to the range to try out. See if it shoots ok. Why not?

I like the flare at the front of the handguard. Reminds me of a nicely sporterized Lee Enfield.

Yeah I like that too. It was sold to me as a lux stock but when I got it I saw the flare and had to do a little homeworkto figure out what it was. The forend is quite a bit narrower than a lux stock as well. very sleek.

Looks great as it is now. Hopefully shoots just as nice.

Try putting the broken one back together. Good practice. I've got at least 2 rifles that were patched up from similar breaks. They've held for years and it gives character to the appearance!

So how exactly did you break the stock like that?

A small amount of bedding compound managed to adhere to the receiver. To remove the action from the stock I had tried tapping comb off my bench. 2 light taps didn't move it the third tap was a little too hard and it broke.

I had the receiver parkerized because I had to remove the bedding compound that stuck. I used brass t scrape it off which usually prevents marks, but you could see in this case that it had been scraped. I couldn't live with that so for the $100 Nick at Vulcan charged it was worth it to get it refinished.
