Been working on this lately. Got aa hard time with the stock, had to re-do it 3 times because of the oil in the wood that was messing with the paint. Removed it with easy-off oven cleaner Stock is now perfect, camera flash and fingers spots are showing on pic. Dont know if I will keep scope tha way, back cover is pretty tight. Might go for the "russian on the side scope" in near future.

nice job on the SKS, I've got one bone stock that I'm thinking about tricking out soon. What kind of recoil pad is on it, is it a slip on or bolt on and where did you get it ?

Got the handguard, muzzlebreak, 2 inch recoil pad (it use same 2 screws that you already have on the stock), bipod on Amazon.com. Cartridge holder on ebay. Rear housing on leverarms.com

Sanded stock, removed oil with easy-off. Industrial mildew covering primer. Kryton ultra-flat black paint. And marine varnish.

I used 1/4 inch oak to fill bayonet crack with marine epoxy, worked it with wood file. Installed wood swivel stud.

Removed bluing on bolt carrier with fine sand paper, Flitz paste and 0000 steelwool.

1951 Tula refurb with factory black bayo, and silver bolt, wearing the usual mall ninja getup with a bushnell red det scope, on a choate mount. boo yah baby.

Nice looking rifle. I like the black version but I prefer the original stock myself. What I think don't matter, its what makes you happy and turns your crank. Cheers.
