In BC they use zig zag labels.

Easy project if anyone was really serious about trying that....you glue on the labels and take a roller and smooth out the glue underneath then varnish it over the top....I seem to remember doing a vase or lamp like this in public school using different colored paper...I think the rifle is screaming "Help me!" IMHO
