I am just curious. Why is it forbidden on the equipment exchange? Is it bad stuff? Are we not allowed to have it? I was about to post an ad looking for a small amount of 7.62 nato IVI brass for making dummy rounds. Will that get me in trouble? Am i understanding correctly?

Thanks

I believe the reason is they dont want people selling stolen Canadian forces brass on here because IVI is primarily a defense contractor. Ive got a few hundred pieces of 5.56 IVI brass from some commercial reloads, so it is out there and not illegal to have or anything

Ah, ok. Someone could be stealing it. thanks. If i could delete my post i would.

I just got clarification on another forum. It was explained that it is still crown property and is supposed to be shredded or crushed before being sold. There are a few companies allowed to buy it unmolested and they are the only ones allowed to sell it.

So now we know. /thread

I believe it is a number of IVI brass that was being sold by individuals was stolen in that it was still Canadian Forces property and illegally acquired. I do believe it is sold legally to certain distributors/vendors after it becomes "salvage" which is why it's a chargeable offence for soldiers to keep empty casings or ammunition.

If someone wants a buttload of IVI 556 and LC 762, just be at EOSC at the same time I am, I don't collect or keep my brass, it usually goes in the brass barrel. ;)

Edit: I purchased all my IVI rounds from a store! I'm WAY too lazy to steal, and then reload all that lol.
