any body still shoot the 22high power i had one in a lever when i was a kid and realy loved that gun i also had a win 92 in 2520 that was a neat littel rifle as well lately i have been thinking about trying to find one or the other just to plink with lot of fun shooting these littel guns DUTCH

The 22 Savage High Power is a bit of an orphan. It uses .228 bullets, IIRC, and is pretty much a reloader's proposition now.
A friend of mine's father had one, and I always thought it would be a neat gun to own, but not a very practical one.

Cheers

About 15 or so years ago people were flogging their .22 Hi-Powers cheap; the European ammo was virtually impossible to find, and lots of owners were non-handloaders. People are collecting this chambering now, and prices are high, if you can find one for sale in decent shape. Ammo is pricey, but is still being made, and bullets and brass are available. I believe you can form the Hi-Power case from .25-35 Winchester; IIRC this is how it was first designed by Arthur Savage et al.
.25-20's are also high in price for good examples, although ammo is still easy to find and fairly cheap. I'm still irritated at my late uncle who had a really cherry '92 in .25-20 he promised to leave me....then forgot and sold it with all his other guns! Some guy in Kenora probably got a great deal on what was to me an heirloom. Grrrr......

I enjoy shooting my 3 - 25-20s. One is original 1892 Winnie, one a Winnie model 53 c/w 92 barrel and a 1905 Marlin. Great varmint caliber and rabbits and gophers seem to disappear when I have it out. I reload as the store bought ammo leaves much to be desired compared to a developed load. The 25-35 caliber is much like the 30-30 in power as I reload for it too.

my win mod 92 was a 25 20 saddel ring carbine with the ivory front sight in mint shape i realy mis that gun and would love to find one my grand father shot many deer with this rifle as well as a calf moose mite not be ideal but you used what you had inthe dirty 30s or you went hungery it worked well for him for many years DUTCH

True. One of the biggest-racked bucks on record ("The Jordan Buck?") was shot with a .25-20. My grandfather and his neighbour thought it was tops, but if either of those two old gentlemen ever shot a deer past 50 yards, they never let on.
