JW-103 Nornico Bush ranger problems

So I take my new Jw-103 bush ranger to the range for the first time and try it out. Well first thing I noticed after loading up a clip with surplus 7.62x39mm was that the damn bolt would not close. So I stop using it, bring it home clean it again and drop in a go-gauge and the bolt closes fine.

So back to the range I go (good thing it is only 10 min away) This time it closes but is real stiff. Pull thi trigger and it goes boom, great it works. Then I try and cycle the bolt and chamber another round and it jams! After careful inspection I noticed that the magazine is not held in place by the magazine latch. So I push the mag up and it does lock in but not strong enough. So I tired the other two mags that came with the rifle, same problem. Guess now I have to change the magazine latch spring, that is if I can find one. Will have to make one I am sure. (sounds like $$$ at the local gunsmith :( )

So much for my $200 toy.

Anyone know besides the remington any other 7.62x39mm bolt actions? The bush ranger is going to drive me mad!:runaway:

Odd...I'd wouldn't have expected that from a rifle slapped together by child labour in a damp cave deep in the mountains of China, shipped over in a crate slathered in cosmoline and sold for a pittance :D

Guess it's true, ya git what ya pay for.

I bought one of these a year ago. When it arrived, I opened the box & spent 5 minutes checking it out. I then put it back in the box & made arrangements to return it to Marstar.
They don't make them but they will give a money back guaranty thankfully.
I thought that it was a piece of c**p.

Ruger did a limited run of the Model 77 MkII in stainless in 7.62x39mm... They are pricey if you can find one...

Well with the new magazine spring I made it is working great. I am getting 2 MOA with cheap surplus ammo. Just really needed to slow down and look at firearm. Also learned to make sure the mag is locked and am good to go!

Very happy with it now :)

Given the modest overall investment in the rifle I supposed 2 MOA is marginally acceptable if you're happy with it. The key being if you're happy with it...

I bought one of those for my lady. Crudest piece of crap handled. Made a Cooey seem like a class rifle. Even an SKS is a step up.
The bore had been fired with corrosive ammo and not cleaned. It was pitted, no, PITTED!
It was returned forthwith to the dealer (as have been many others) and an offer of another was refused.

Handsome is as handsome does. When it comes to guns, horses, trucks and women, you generally get what you paid for.

I never had a jw103 but I did have the jw105 in .223 (same rifle in a different caliber) and IMHO it was a fantastic rifle for the money. At the time, it cost me about $300. I never had a hitch with it. It didn't have a very smooth action but the trigger was quite nice (and adjustable). At our range, I've seen guys bragging about groups out of their stevens 200, tikkas, heavy barrelled savages and they were no better (and in many cases not as good as this thing could do with WWB 45 grain). It would regularly create a 5 shot cloverleaf at 100. I replaced it with the cz527 and although its much nicer to look at and much smoother, its not a better shooter either (and it cost me 3 X more).

Unless you bought it new it probably allready has.

What do you get with what ever you shoot?

I'm only asking cause a 2 inch group at 100 yards with the cheap stuff in a cheap gun seems pretty good to me... but it sounds like that is not up to your standard.
