A question about these Norinco bolties:

Which would you choose, and why?

(Note: If you really, truly want to say "neither", then please provide a reason as well as an alternative in the same price range. Thanks.)

P.S. It may just be my imagination, but most American firearms writers seem to like the JW-15.
 
Since I have never shot either of these, if it were me I would get the 15. I just like the look of it better. They probably use the same action and barrels so it comes down to which model you like the look of.
The 15 with it's "ebony" cap looks alot nicer than the 27 IMHO
 
I had a JW-15. It was junk. Very poor quality construction and finish. Promptly sold it.

The trigger pull was huge and it was very gritty.

Accuracy wasn't all that good either.

I'd save the money and go for a 10/22 or Marlin 60 instead.
 
I think he said he's looking for a bolt gun.

Reportedly, the 'rinco's are excellent rimfire guns. The only one I've ever used was the KKW trainer clone, and it was superb. The quality of that particular gun was so much higher than the norinco bolt action centerfires, which was atrocious.

For the price, give it a try. I'm thinking about picking up a JW-23 .22 mag next time Marstar has them available.

The bolt handle was a bit sloppy but the bolt did lock up tightly.
My JW-27 bolt-action .22 is the same story. Did you figure out a way to tighten it up at all? It's perfectly functional, just annoying and not very confidence-inspiring. Reminds me of my old Ford Tempo's shifter, like stirring a pot of soup
