I just impulse bought a Norinco JW-25A. Looks like I will need to find some 3/8 dovetail rings. Any suggestions for an inexpensive scope that will fit? I read somewhere that the rear sight can get in the way so I probably need something with a smaller objective bell. This will just be a short range, 25-100 yard, plinking rifle.

I bought mine from wholesale. Its called Bushnell .22 scope. I had it on my jw25 it was dead on and now I have one on my 10/22. I think prices have gone up a bit to like 35 or 40

I am actually leaning towards the Simmons 22 Mag Rimfire in the 3-9x32. They seem to get pretty decent reviews for a cheap scope. Is an adjustable objective important for a rimfire specific scope? The non-AO version looks to have a much slimmer objective bell. I wonder if the included rings will be tall enough to clear the rear sight?

I got these dovetail adaptors for my NS522 and they work great, they accommodate a domed receiver perfectly.

Thanks everyone. I ended up picking up a cheap Barska 3-9x32 with some high rings. I decided against spending more than that as this rifle only needs to be able to shoot minute of pop can/water bottle.

post a pic of that would you

Excuse the mess. I snapped them just now. Only downside is the scope is a touch fat for the rings. It'll need longer set screws when I remember them.

I have a nice little weaver, but the rings are too short. Dovetail risers are kind of ugly and taller rings (3/8"tube?? I forget..) are hard to find.

So... A Chinese copy of a Czech gun, disguised as a German rifle, with a Russian scope, a German blade, and a sling from India via eBay. And a PU scope cover from one of our CGN blokes :)

Mark-II, I like that short Russian scope(what is it?) and would be my choice of setup. Looks right on that rifle.
Personally, I'd just find some better irons….CZ Tangents?

I went with a simmons 22 mag fixed 4x scope for around $40 bucks. Clear optics and seems to hold zero fairly well. I'm very happy with the purchase. Installed on my Marlin 795 and it came with dovetail mounts. The 3x9 version is also around the same price. I wanted the simplicity of the 4x so I went with that version.

I am still waiting for the rifle to arrive but the Barska 3-9x32 arrived today. While it is far from perfect I really can't complain as it was $60 tax and shipping included. It is clearer than I expected, plenty bright enough for the conditions I will use it in and quality is actually on par with the Bushnell Banner that I had a while back. We will see if it holds zero once I get it mounted on the rifle.
