Guys, I remember there was talk of putting a receiver sight on one of these backpacker rifles. Did anything ever work out?

I'm considering one. My Rossi pump doesn't really lend itself to motorcycle travel, despite it's takedown ability (hard to find a good case for it; leg of mutton cases would work best, but are ridiculously expensive).

I gave up on that route and put optics. Nothing out there that was cheap. Paid 40$ for a BSA 2.5 scope compared to something from Williams that will cost me 80+ bucks and no guarantee that it actually work.

This might be a good option:

You'd probably have to replace the front sight for a taller one, but that shouldn't be too hard.

Well, what sort of accuracy could you get out of the stock iron sights?

Not very good. The rear sight is very flimsy and slides from side to side easily. Also the front sight is too thick. Oh ya and the sight radius is way too short. The best I could do from a rest with the irons was about 1.25" at 25yds.

Now that I have a good scope on it that lets me get a good cheekweld it shoots .5" with cheap Winchester 555 bulk pack.

Does this rifle have a North American standard 3/8" dovetail or a European 11 mm dovetail like the CZ it copies?

I know it would still be the same sight radius but I wonder if the open iron sight could be replaced with the CZ Scout iron sight. That is at least a good solid mount. At least it is on my Scout.
