I got my short barrel Norinco JW15 with the rubber stock set up with a 4x 3/4" vintage Weaver scope. Took it to the range and tried to find out what ammo it liked best.
Once it was sighted in - that took about 15 shots - I started to shoot groups off of the bench with my left hand holding the fore stock and supported by a sandbag.
The results - all brands of ammo shot into groups that were 3/4" or smaller. (there was 1 flyer from some 20 year old T22 ammo - a true flyer, not one I pulled) at 25 meters
The results American Eagle - 3/4 inch group in a 1" bull (10 shots)
30 year old Imperial 5/8" group in a 1" bull (10 shots)
T22 (20 years old) 9 shots in 5/8" with a flyer 3" low.
T22 ( new ammo) 10 shots in 3/8"....
Winchester Super X 10 Shots in 3/4"
(group size may be me, not the gun or the ammo)
Target was this one printed on 60 pound paper - makes a very nice bullet hole
The point of impact for all brands of ammo was the same.
I am very sure that some one with a little better vision and a little steadier than me can get better groups.
I did not have the butt stock supported by a sandbag.
The Imperial ammo may well date back to the 1980s or earlier. It has the old yellow label rather than the newer green label.
