Jw20

I have a Ruger 10/22, and the NS522 & JW20 on the way... Does that help? HE HE

Not at all!!! Haha, but thanks for the info. I am really leaning on the 2 Norinco's because really, I can then take someone out with me instead of just shooting 22 on my own. Would it be easy to throw a scope on the NS522?

Well, I decided I'll just get the NS522 and save myself $100+. Then I can worry about a semi-auto down the line!

Any thoughts on a cheaper scope that would work for this? I have only dealt with handguns/SKS/Shotguns, and have never really dealt with optics.

Thanks!

NS522 takes standard 3/8 rimfire rings, cheapest scope I would go is a Simmons 22 mag 3-9x....they are passable.
Optics on the jw20 isn't easy or practical really, so expect to use it with irons.

I just picked up a weaver 60A base which is supposed to fit both the Browning SA and Norinco JW 20,I guess I'll find out when it comes

Make sure you buy a knife or something to get over the $200 mark so you get free shipping,, the rough use knife is great for,,,, rough use! ;0)

I ordered the mora knife ($17) to qualify for the free shipping when I ordered the FS552,so that means you get the knife free....good knife too...
Hopefuly I will get my JW20 this week, the FS 552came sooner than I thought, just 3 days after I ordered it

.22 ammunition sure seems scarce these days,I thought Canada ammo would have it

pics please!
here are a couple of shots....cheap rifle with cheap scope = cheap fun

So,what did you have to do to it,and how does it shoot?I presume you can't take it down with the scope mounted

Removed the rear site (just tap it out), took out the two set screws on top of the barrel and attached the mount. Took maybe 5 to 10 minutes. I haven't shot it yet with the scope (my aging eyes necessitated a scope) but the gun cycles and shoots fine with the irons. You most certainly can take it down with the scope, it is just more awkward to do so, but not a problem. The gun in the pics is currently in a softcase in two pieces. I am using a cheapo rimfire Bushnell on it (33 mm obj) so some ring adjustment may be required if using a larger scope.

Leupold Rifleman .22 Rim-fire Ring mounts. 16$ with simmons 22 mag 3-9x40 is what I got on mine , no issues with bolt hitting scope or removing and inserting bolt. but will change scope to nikon bdc 22 3x9. so it will shoot out 150 yards for 200$

Bolt hitting scope?? I would hope there isn't an issue with that since it's semi auto, bottom eject. Think you're mixing JW20 up with something else.

Broke down and ordered another 522.....even with the afterthought stocks ...these are good, solid, and surprisingly accurate rifles.

In all honestly...not perfect as I have to "reach in" about an inch. Maybe a better scope would help, but for what it is and for what I am using it for I can live with it. Would rather use the irons but my eyes just won't allow it.

I hear ya, my eyes are crap too. I don't know what I'll do with mine when it arrives, though. I'd like to put a small fixed power on it, but the cantilever mount makes the barrel 'half' longer, and exposes the scope to possible damage with how it's sticking off the end. Also seems like it'd be pretty flexible, I wonder how much flex it would show in a high speed camera when fired?

Anybody thought of doing a drill and tap, and mounting a scope on the receiver? Would the return to zero be good enough for minute of pop can?

I could NOT resist & ordered a SECOND NS522 and a SECOND JW20!!! Such an incredible price!!!

Cheers

Great to see a moderator "jacked" in a thread!!! Well done Jay. I too broke down and ordered, JW20 and a Backpacker to get over the $200 "hump". I had a BAD experience with a previous JW20 from another supplier, received my CanAm shipment yesterday, tore it apart and can already see that it's not from the same batch as my other was (whew). Much nicer machining and wood. Fit/finish is definitely better. Once it was all shined up and tested, I can say it's a great deal on a handy lil rifle. Mounted a weaver base and a cheap old fixed 4x. Definitely worth the $. As for the backpacker, well it is what it is and I can't say anything bad. Thanks CanadaAmmo!!!
