Dear Members,

I have done all the research on my K31 that I aquired from a friend who's friend was in the Swiss military. He kept his rifle and brought it back. It is a 1953 rifle, manufactured in December. However, the rifle seems to be not matching to the rifle's reciever? The rifle wood is stamped 222197, as well as the reciever, however the barrel is numbered 77381. I don't know what happened there. All other markings are normal in matching, including "overproof" markings, and "shoot test" marking. Any ideas? The 77381 marking is on the underside of the barrel ring where it matches the reciever. The reciever is also marked for being made for Chrome Nickle.

The stock, oddly, on further inspection, has a marking of "V 44" under the buttplate, which seems to indicate the stock was made in May, 1944. Any idea what's going on?

Barrels were made by SIG and Hämmerli, with their own serial numbers(left side of flat spot on barrel shank with barrel pointing away from you). Don't expect those numbers on the barrels to match up with the receivers. What should match up is the three digit number on the right side of the flat spot with the last three digits of the rifle's serial #
See codes(on flat spot):

Stocks were dated after they were cut and inletted, then put aside to be dried, close to a minimum of 1 year, before being mated to a receiver.

Thanks. The numbers match up properly.

Thank you for cleaning that up for me.

Seems this stock was made in 44 and then matched much later, in 1953.

Yours,
Drach
