Is there any reason why the newer and more beat up K31 rifles sell for much more than the K11 rifles? Are they that much more accurate? I understand the action is stronger and slightly shorter, but with milsurps isn’t condition and age more important?

Irons sights on K31 can be used for 100yds/meters. vs K11 sights start at 300meters.
Lots of accessories available for K31, less so for K11 but getting there.
K31 release for sale much later than the older rifles so tend to be in better shape.
K31 has longer sight radius than K11.
K11 is slightly handier.

K11 carbine is more beautifull than K31. K31 is beefy. I use K11 300m sight for shooting target at 100yards. I just need to shoot at the base of the target and is going right in the centre. My k31 is just an investment for me.

When I started collecting Swiss arms K31s, G11s, K11s, G96/11s, G89s, all cost the same 300$. Then when the prices went up they went up fastest on the K31 due to the demand. K31s aren't just desired by collectors but tons of shooters enjoy them as well.

As mentioned it has a much better sight radius on the K31s and the rear sight setting of 100m is a huge plus. Many of the most desired milsurps all fall into this category, of lower sight settings. Kar98ks have a 200m zero which is effective at 100m, M91/30 Mosins have a 100m setting, Lee Enfields have low sight settings, etc.

Another part of it is when people talk about Swiss firearms everyone only talks about the K31, not too many people talk about the other Swiss rifle variants, which in turn leads to less awareness amongst potential purchasers.

Value isn't determined by how rare a item is, rather by how desired it is. Rarity can have a factor if the item is highly desired, but for example I have some Bulgarian M95s in the original 8x50r which is fairly rare, yet they aren't worth a whole lot, vs a M1 Garand where realistically Canada might actually have more M1s per capita than the USA does thanks to the Danish ones brought in about 20 year ago.

Enjoy collecting the Swiss arms, I have never regretted buying any of them!

Can’t you replace the front sight with one compatible for 100 m. Wldnt the drop only be 6 inches at 100? U cld do a 6 oclock hold.

How much should i be expecting to pay for a K11 in very good condition? Is this rifle capable of 1-2 moa with the mil ammo?

Haven’t shot either yet but having handled the K11 and K31, the K31 feels smoother cycling and the trigger is amazing. Both are super nice rifle

And if you want a nice one i can’t imagine how nice CSC select grade are because my rack grade K31 is in excellent condition, can’t go wrong with these guys :p

I got my first milsurp rifle when I was 13 (Norwegian K98KAR) and I always turned my nose up at those awkward-looking (to me) straight-pull Swiss rifles. I just got K11 on a whim and couldn't be happier. Where have these been all my life? Amazing trigger, everything is made with old world precision and is first class. For my ailing eyes, I do like the idea of the closer to-your-face rear sights on the K31, but for the price, you can't go wrong K11. I'm sure I'll get a K31 eventually now that the Swiss bug bit me.

Hype mostly, since the K11 is older and rarer I believe.
K11 is more carbine like
1911 is the king of sight radius and is stable when shooting
People say the K31 is a good compromise
There is no inherent difference in accuracy.

I would say there is more accuracy potential with a K31 than a K11. Not only is there a longer sight radius the carbine also has a longer barrel on top of a better stock bedding system, there is a reason the world record for iron sight shooting is held by a K31. That being said odds are most of us can't shoot well enough to notice the difference to begin with.

K11s are less common, but by no means is either one rare. To get into the rare Swiss military rifles your talking about things like a G89/96 or a K93. I do feel that the Schmidt Rubin style of action is smoother (K11) but it isn't like there is that much of a difference. And because these threads get a bit boring without any photos, here is some of the Swiss rifles I have the honour of being the caretaker for.
