So I got my hands on a K31 and love how it shoots, but while doing a basic cleaning I discovered something that I couldn't quite get off with some solvent + cloth.

Now some of the more experienced guys can hopefully chime in on whether or not that is in fact rust, and if so how can I remove it from this thing of beauty :d

thanks!

Nothing to worry about, just leave a very thin film of grease on the bolt and work the bolt back and forth a few times.
Swiss always left grease to protect them from rust.

Use a dental pick or some similar tools if it concerns you. You can pick up a set from Princess Auto for 6 bucks. There is nothing wrong with that rifle. I wouldn't do a thing to it.

I'm not really sure what it is you're referring to either. But there are some very light corrosion pit marks on the flat face of the end of the barrel around the mouth chamfering. Those small squiggly black spots? That's them.

But there is nothing at all to worry about. The rust that caused them is cleaned away nicely and the marking is affecting an inconsequential amount of surface area. Likely the marks are too shallow or barely deep enough to feel with the sharp end of a dental probe. The rifle is in primo shape and we should ALL look as good at that sort of age.
