K31 NDT Scope Mount

The attachment is the setup virtually all of us here at SP use. It's a fixed 6 power and goes easily to
500 yards and beyond.

The offset of the mount is 11/16", so leave it at exactly that POI at 100 yards and it will remain so out
to 1,000 yards and beyond. No need to zero it on the bullseye. This is the same method used with the M1D Garand Sniper..
If you can tell the difference beyond 200 yards, you're a much better shot than I am, Gunga Dihn.

Whichever scope you choose, remember that the lower and closer to the axis of the bore, the better.\
Follow the link and scroll down to the "K 31 and 1911 offset mount illustration". Follow that and you will be the same at 25 yards as you are out to 1000 yards, and that 1500m ladder site is not on there just for looks.

The Calgary Shooting Center were selling a K31 picatinny scope rail adapter that mounted on the rear sight. Removal of the rear sight post was required and the picatinny rail used the same cross pin and a tension screw to secure it in place. Is not a permanent modification because the rear sight could be but back in place. The rail was parallel to the bore axis and you could mount any kind of rings because it was picatinny based. Not sure if these are still available but is another option to consider?

We have maybe five or six over the bore prototypes on the shelf in the shop, but none of them worked 100% to allow ejection without either the brass falling back into the receiver or denting the brass, and if something won't work 100% of the time, we won't manufacture it.
