K31 question

I saw on the swiss products site they had an k11 side clamp mount I'm guessing that wouldn't work for the k31?

You guessed correctly.
That one works by being held in by the action screws and the spacing of those screws will only fit the 1889, 96/11, 1897 Kadet, 1911 rifles, and the K11.

Does anyone have a problem with the rounds hitting the bottom of the scope? Its a top ejection type so I figured a side mount might save my scope or is this not an issue?

I did some digging for info.
Pierre answered someone who was competing in speed matches with his K31.

"Go ahead and compete in speed matches. Buy some 3M VHB foam Double sided tape. Bond it to the area of concern on your scope, contaminate the exposed side of the VHB with oil, wipe it dry and go for it. Eject smartly and you won't have a problem.

Are there any quality factory loaded 7.5x55mm SP choices for those who don't handload and may want to use it for hunting? How is the availability?

I think there's some from PRVI that comes in once in a while. Pretty sure it was listed at Tradeex when I ordered some FMJ from them but was sold out.

I just did a quick search. Apparently Privi and Wolf and Norma and Hornady do sell hunting ammo for 7.5x55. Tradex has 180 gr. Norma Oryx listed for 49.95.

The K31, with it's super quality build and potent cartridge would make an excellent hunting rig. I agree, get the scope mount that does not alter the rifle ! Have fun in the bush with it !
