K31 Scope mount (updated with video)

I got out to the range in the rain this morning to sight in the scope and see how it works.

I put 20 rounds through the rifle today. Using my 1992 vintage ammo.
I found that with a bit of practice, I could work the bolt with the right speed to pop the brass out and have it land in my range bag on the bench next to me. Only 3 pieces of brass hit the floor today. The brass that missed the range bag ended up next to the range bag on the bench. The brass ejects almost straight out to the right.

Here are some photos

The scuffs on the mount after 20 rounds

(they're at the rear of the mount, above the ejection port of the rifle)

The brass, showing the "ding" that they get when they hit the mount on the way out

All in all...............a good day.
I used my last 2 shots to hit the 385 meter gong. Center-punch both shots.

For those that are interested, the scope is a Bushnell Elite 3-9x40 with a DOA 600 reticle.
Wholesale Sports had them on sale for $265 last week (regular price $399)

Great photos and review. Would you say it holds zero?

I'll know next time out.
I wasn't really trying for groups today, just wanted to get the scope sighted in. The shots weren't wandering all over the paper.
I did, however, put 10 rounds in one target with a group diameter of around 2 1/2" Didn't save the target.

By the way.................This mount must have some M.O.A. built in. I had to crank the scope down quite a bit when I sighted it in.
I initially sighted in at 25 meters just to get on paper. It was hitting about 6" high at 25 m. That works out to about 24" high at 100.
20 M.O.A. rail???

That is what I found too. Had to crank it all the way down.

thanks for the pics and updated guys. Informative.

I think I will have to wait until they get rid of that built in MOA, and also make it sit closer to the bore axis. Bit high for me.

Great idea, love that its not intrusive to the firearm, but its too high and too tilted for me. Maybe make two versions for those who shoot with really big objective lenses and very long range that might want the added adjustment.

Yeah, that is high, meaning you need to add a cheek rider pad and that probably will interfere with the straight pull bolt

Wow. It sure looks high. Could you get away with lower rings?

I used Weaver low rings to get the scope to sit as low as possible.
With the Blackhawk! cheek riser, it's just right for me.
No problems working the bolt or removing it with that riser. I have to push the front of the riser pad down a bit to pull the bolt out, but it's foam, so no problem.

I'll be shooting it again in a couple of days. I'll see how well it holds zero.

Yea, I tried to zero my scope and ran out of vertical adjustment on my scope and was still shooting 5 inches high at 100 ! So i got out the dremel and sanded down the U shaped block that rests on the receiver bringing down the rear of the base down a bit . Now im zeroed with adjustment to spare up and down . This should be addressed in any new production of these, might not be a issue with a 30mm tube scope though , also the front corner of the rail should be removed or shaved back so scopes can be brought back more for less eye relief , mine is just ok. could not put a recol pad on though .. Also a peep sight drilled in it like the M14.ca mount would be cool , looks like it would be possible.

are they thinking about a second generation of these with the fixes being brought forward here?

I am up for one, but I don't like it in its current state.

+1!

I wonder how many of the old ones they have to get rid of first before they will update it. If they ever order another run at all.

I think I will stick with the side mount, it's cheaper, lower, and works perfectly.
